Worst hotel stay in 25 years of business travel. Noisy, cold, and dirty. A horrible experience. Details below: Cons: 1- They started remodeling the room next to me without notice, with someone drilling the wall right as I was having business critical conference calls. I repeat, without notice or notification. I called to complain. Spoke to an agent and the shift manager. The refused to do anything about it by saying that the worked was planned and they could not stop it. The noise continued for another hour. INCREDIBLY INSULTING! They offered to go to the lounge, not viable for confidential calls. They did not have available rooms to trade. Beyond beyond disrespectful. 2- The heating in the room did not work. Air coming out was freezing. While temperatures outside were between -2 and 5 Celsius (high 20’s to high 30’s F). I called to get it fixed. I was told to leave the air on for an hour and it will work, which sounded ridiculous. I did it. It did not work and made the room incredibly cold. I went to the front desk and asked that someone would fix it. NOTHING. An entire week went by. I had to wear a jacket in the room. 3- I attempted an early check in upon arrival, they had no rooms and asked me to go out and come back later. I came back at 18:00 hs (6 pm) and still did not have a room! They asked me to go out again. I obviously refused, escalated to shift manager, and eventually was given a room. Temperatures outside were freezing and it was snowing. 4- The hotel is OLD, DIRTY. See photos. The room is very very run down and quite gross really. Dusty and stained. 5- They do not have water, sodas, or any kind of vending machine. Nothing. I wanted to get a drink later in the evening after waking up jet lagged. There isn’t. 6- Customer service is fundamentally poor. All throughout the weeks and different issues I had… not one person cared. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Pro: 1- Location. This place is garbage, the true definition of “dump”, stay away from it.

From the very moment I stepped into the DoubleTree by Hilton at Amsterdam Centraal Station, I was welcomed with exceptional service and a heartwarming experience. The cleaning staff was not only meticulous in their duties but also incredibly courteous and friendly, making my stay feel all the more personalized. A special highlight of my visit was the unexpected upgrade to the King Executive Suite. This pleasant surprise truly elevated my experience. My sincere appreciation goes to Annemarije Cornel, the Front Desk Officer Administrator. Her professional yet warm approach is commendable, making me feel like a valued guest, especially as a Diamond member. The breakfast spread every morning was a delightful start to my day, offering a mix of delicious choices that catered to my tastes perfectly. And, of course, the hotel’s location couldn’t be more ideal – so close to the heart of Amsterdam, making my trips around the city utterly convenient. First time staying at Double Tree Hilton in Amsterdam (have stayed in other Double Trees in other countries) and I have to say these guys get 5-stars from me. The location certainly cannot be beat, right in the heart of they city, great views over the canals, 5 min walk to central train station. Ambience in the lobby is nice, spacious, smells wonderful and staff were only too happy to be of assistance. Check-in process was smooth and we had our dog with us. Huge bonus for being pet friendly!! They even give you special tags to put on your room door to alert housekeeping so they do not simply enter your room to clean and may startle your pet. Rooms were comfortable, bed was excellent quality (we slept very well). Quiet floor, with a small roof garden. No issues with the connectivity of wifi. I particularly like the soap and shampoos in large refillable bottles as opposed to the small bottles. Breakfast buffet was amazing, lots of variety and we enjoyed all the dinners when we were too tired to head out in to the city in the evenings. As Hilton Honors members we got breakfast included in the price of our stay. All staff members we came in contact with were so pleasant and gave excellent service. Concierge service also excellent; helped us scan and print business documents. I know there are gym facilities but did not use any. Cons: Aircond does not cool the room to desired temperature no matter how you try to adjust the setting. Lucky we were able to open a very small window and that let some fresh air in to the room. There is no dedicated parking for hotel guests. You will need to use the public parking located underground on Level -2 and you need to be prepared for how expensive this is going to cost you. All up we spent close EUR 250 for 5 days. INSANE! It will charge you EUR 45 per day to park your car. If you leave and come back later that cost can go up to EUR 85!! The parking space is spacious, clean and well lit. Access directly to the hotel lobby via elevator. Next issue is only minor but worth mentioning ... the TV channels in the room drove me crazy because it never plays what you select on the TV guide. It will say NATGEO World Travels but a comedy series will play instead.

The property is in a good location and has potential, but rooms’ temperature makes the stay very uncomfortable. Staff is polite and politely told me they would send an engineer to fix the aircon. However, only at my third report they mentioned they are having an issue with the air conditioning, so rooms are either too cold or too hot and the temperature control in the room is not able to change it. Also, be careful is you choose a high flow because from 4am to 6am you will be likely woken up by noise of chairs or furniture being moved on top floor. Breakfast is good and this DoubleTree has also a decent lounge, but the inability to provide a basic that for a hotel is a comfortable and quiet night sleep makes it a no-go hotel until these issue are solved.

Paid upgraded room was so basic and spartan that any room would have been ok in this hotel. The breakfast area was crowded and not worth having if staying there. There was construction on the 9th floor and it started early! I stayed in room 922, which has a balcony but that is about it. The bathroom is small and the shower is quite terrible, raised from the floor about a foot. There were some lose tiles in the bathroom. Overall the place is a bit grimy and due for a refresh. I checked in late at night and the next day someone’s room service plates were still there after 10:00 am. Very poor housekeeping.
