NH City Centre Amsterdam is frequently lauded for its prime location amid the city's attractions, complemented by a peaceful ambience. Guests commend the hotel's cleanliness and the service provided by attentive staff. While the rooms are acknowledged for their tidiness and tranquility, opinions vary, with some guests finding them cramped and basic. Despite the modern amenities, several reviewers question the hotel's value, pointing out the basic offerings relative to the cost. Nonetheless, the serene atmosphere and cleanliness are highlights for many visitors.

After some research for our New Year's weekend in Amsterdam we chose this hotel , beautiful rooms well cleaned and spacious compared to the average in Amsterdam. We chose the superior with canal view there was everything we needed in the room coffee kettle the etc , hairdryer , shower cap , shower gel , cream
Body . The only thing not present was toothpaste and toothbrush.
Rooms and common areas well heated. Reception and all the friendly staff and always available for every need. Rich sweet and savoury breakfast, endless buffet and always stocked, there is also open kitchen where they make eggs omelets and other food cooked at the moment.
Another very important thing is the location of the hotel in the center area full of clubs and pub bars of all kinds but not too messy as other streets.
We did everything on foot we were 5 maximum 10’minutes from the main attractions.
The canal side then is beautiful is located on one of the most beautiful spots with flower bikes you Amsterdam.
Everything really perfect for other trips I will always choose the NH chain

We have been to Amsterdam many times however we needed a 3 person room and this was the only hotel that was nice, in a good location and would accommodate for 3 people in a room where the beds were all proper beds and no fold away bed. Its a 5 mins walk to dam square, 20-30min walk from the train station and seconds away from restaurants, bars and coffee shops. We usually stayed the other direction north of dam square and this hotel is south, it was a really nice change and would happily stay here again. Hotel is clean, rooms are nice, staff are helpful, could not fault this place, friendly area as well, feel very safe and easy to navigate as soon as you step out side the front of the hotel.

It is a hotel that would deserve a Rating of 4-5 stars. I explain the reason for my Rating: we are attended by a young person in English , we ask for someone who speaks Spanish and they tell us that there is no one currently who speaks Spanish (after we checked that it was not true). Our Reservation since May was a superior room with city views. We do check-in procedures and assign us room 141, we are surprised that a premium room with views is on the first floor. We take keys and go to room and we find the unpleasant surprise that the room is a triple standard (we are three adults), dark, small and with a window of tiny dimensions that overlooks a courtyard of lights, and we notice that we have been charged guarantee by credit card the amount of the reserved superior room.
We return with our bags to reception to communicate the deception to the incompetent (or not) receptionist. Instead of apologizing, angry, he takes our bags, Reservation at reception and invites us to visit the hab. 407 see if we like it with all its irony, it is evident that this is our room and remains the incident-deception solved, but without any apology.I remain doubt if the receptionist complied with direction guidelines.
I must state that once the case has been explained to the client area, they have apologized and would investigate the case.

That said:
Room of 10, four windows with canal view. Good bathroom, queen size bed and full additional bed.Good cleaning and service.
Breakfast buffet good and wide according to the category hot and cold made on the spot, as often happens we find lactose free milk lacking.
Restaurant El Patio does not respond to the expectations detailed on the web, it is closed to dinner from Monday to Thursday, very limited menu and without sandwiches (dinner) , directly the staff asks you to go out to eat.
Access without mobility, long and high stairs make it difficult to move bags and I do not know how a disabled person accesses.
Hotel located in historical center quiet area, near Dam Square, very well connected by tram 4 minutes from the hotel. Lines 2-12 to access Central Station and Airport.
Unlike the entrance, the departure was excellent with Patricia who obviously spoke Spanish and understood perfectly what happened with the employee who attended us at first without more details, so I issue a notice to address with this employee, he is still a good compliant employee, although I hope not, as it would not be expected in a hotel in the NH chain.
Save the very serious problem, we would definitely recommend the hotel and repeat safe.

Unbeatable location, in the center of everything taking a walk you can go to all the representative sites of the city, but you can always use the tram services that is very close to the hotel. Surrounded by bars and restaurants that are very good.
Lousy reception service, don't expect them to do anything to solve a problem or just a reservation at a restaurant...
We had breakfast included, very very basic for the price. Powder juice, little variety of everything, if you want a toast they have a toaster that we could have anyone at home for all guests, they do not meet the schedules and do not give you any explanation at reception if you can avoid it and breakfast outside...
The rooms/bathrooms are small and not soundproof, as you get a communicated forget to sleep, the doors have no brakes you hear every door of all the rooms on your floor when closing.. that if comfortable bed and acceptable pillows. Passable cleanliness, that's if they take ages to fix even leaving the room at 9am and returning at 6pm still not done... day after day of the 5 we stayed... Very low shower water pressure or sinks, old and tiny towels. We stayed in two types of rooms and the same in both (one double other single).... If you are looking for location the best! is your hotel! If you ask for something else forget they have much to improve to make a minimally pleasant stay to their guests. The disappointing summary! not worth what it costs!

There are many things you hope for when staying in a 4* hotel, but not to be disappointed!
About the reception and staff in general, nothing to say. Staff smiling, available, offering help and rehearsing to make themselves understood if not speak the language.

The "Patio" is sold as a lounge area with dishes and cocktails ... French fries at palace prices and no cocktails.
Buffet breakfast described as "exceptional" ... the quantities soothe even the most gourmet hunger but nothing exceptional. Juice cut with water, industrial cold cuts and cheese just taken out of the trays placed on the refrigerator counter, basic fruits no season. It is good but not exceptional, nor justifying the asking price.

The room, simple but potentially comfortable, is spacious.
1st disappointment, advertised room with exterior view, on the canals. But we only saw the rooms of the building across the tiny street.
Second disappointment, empty mini fridge. 1/2 bottle of water at room temperature for all occupants. With 30° outside we better understand why people throw themselves on the water canister at the reception. 3 different coffee capsules, 3 different tea bags. Better not have the same tastes. No brush for the toilet, bathrobe one size too small and holed for us. Positive mention for the quality of hygiene products available in the bathroom (although a minimum....)
Last but not least disappointment: no sound insulation!! What a surprise to hear not only the neighbors upstairs or adjoining but also and especially ALL the noises coming from the street! We even got up to make sure we had closed the window, so loud were the street noises!!
Staying in a 4* is also seeking calm and tranquility, which was not our case since we did not sleep all night! But in a most important hotel it is still the quality of sleep. This experience will remain for us a disappointment, and a failure.

NH city centre is in a perect location. 2 minutes from the number 12 tram stop at Koninsgplein (to & from the Centraal Station in under 10 minutes - to and from Museumplein again in under 10 minutes). The hotel is modern, clean with decent sized lifts a good size reception & lounge area, a well-kept restaurant and a decent array of snacks & drinks on sale next to reception. You can even rent an umbrella. The staff are welcoming & efficient and if we had to give an feedback fir improvement, their knowledge of local public transport could be better. You do have to walk up a short flight of stairs to enter the hotel from either side. Not an issue fir us but just so you know. Spuistraat has great bars, coffee shops & restaurants as well as places to hire bikes & buy souvenirs. On the other side of the hotel is Singel, the picturesque inner canal of the western ring. Bloemenmarkt Flower Market is just round the corner & you can walk to many of the major sites in no time at all. The 5 minute walk to Rokin Station gets you onto the Metro system very easily, too. We particularly liked the atmosphere and friendly staff in De Koningshut cafe / bar almost opposite the hotel on Spuistraat for an evening beer. The city view room we had was spacious, clean & very comfortable. The room had a coffee machine, kettle, fridge, hair dryer, sockets, a desk & chair with a table lamp, an armchair & coffee table, bedside cubes, free to use safe, a good amount of storage space, unpacking stand, aircon and a huge comfortable bed with decent pillows. Even better, we literally heard no noise at all from other rooms, nor from outside. We didn't eat in the hotel but can say that the price of breakfast was certainly competetive. We are sure we will visit Amsterdam again & will definitely stay at NH City Centre, when we do.

The hotel is in a great location 5 minutes walk to shops bars and restaurants. We had a canal view the rooms are small but for a few days city break there is enough room for clothes and shoes . The bathroom has everything you need powerful shower, shower gel , shampoo and conditioner, and hand cream and a decent hairdryer unlike most hotels . The room was very clean with a comfortable bed . We didn’t have breakfast as we only have a small breakfast so didn’t think it would be worth the money. There was a lovely breakfast cafe called studio 2 just 5 minutes walk away which did a very nice bacon on toast at a reasonable price . All in all if staying in Amsterdam again I would definitely stay here again.

The NH city center is certainly in an excellent position, very central, close to the Rokin metro stop, but also allows you to reach various attractions on foot. Furthermore, it is located close to several restaurants and cafes. The room is large and comfortable, especially the bed, large and spacious, as well as super comfortable. It also allowed me, who suffer from insomnia, to sleep very well. Furthermore, it was a very quiet room, which allowed us to rest even during the celebration of Koningsdag (King's Day). Cleanliness is also average. These are certainly the strong points of the hotel.
Let's move on to the negative aspects: price and a little immature staff.
We arrived during the Koningsdag, a chaotic day for sure, but the customer welcome was really superficial, even in the following days. Suffice it to say that we were leaving at 4 and it was complicated (also due to the lack of a bell) to attract the attention of the night staff to carry out check out. Furthermore, upon our arrival, unfortunately, we found a problem with the bathroom drain and reported it. A technician was promptly sent to us (very kind), but unfortunately the problem could not be solved because it was a problem with the pipes, as they wrote on a note left in the room together with some biscuits and where they proposed changing the room. So far everything is "normal". Greater interest, not just via ticket, would have been appreciated. However, we decided to keep the same room, because we only came back to sleep anyway. Subsequently, however, we found ourselves having a problem that meant we had to extend our stay by one night. We made the request at the reception and there was no problem, but the cost of the additional night petrified us a little. Considering the four nights already booked and the problem in the room, we didn't expect such a high figure (412 euros for a standard double room excluding breakfast). We then noticed the next day that the room on Booking had a lower price and we clearly reported it. At that point we were compensated for the difference, pointing out to us that the price changes daily. Well, from this point of view I was not particularly satisfied with the company policy and the attention shown to the customer, who was already paying a considerable sum for a room which also presented a problem. Although it is a good hotel (despite the shower leaking, as reported by many), in an excellent location, the quality/price ratio significantly lowers my rating.

The hotel's location is perfect for visiting Amsterdam, many sites can be visited simply on foot, and a tram stop is nearby.

The hotel is located in a large building with a facade overlooking the Singel canal, with beautiful views of the typical houses of the Dutch Golden Age. Request a room on higher floors for a better view.

Our room, number 17, is on the ground floor raised overlooking the street. Apart from a little noise from the street, this is not a problem because pedestrians cannot see inside the room, so you feel good in the room even on the ground floor.

Spacious and functional room but neutral in terms of decoration, hence a slightly impersonal side. Good comfortable bedding.

Very welcoming and friendly staff, at reception and at breakfast, as well as the maid who took care of our room.

Possibility of parking your vehicle in the hotel garage in the basement, very practical and secure.

Good varied breakfast with many products available.

Finally we stayed at the hotel with our two dogs, who are welcome here, unlike the vast majority of hotels in Amsterdam which refuse dogs.

In summary, pleasant stay with a beautiful view from the canal side window.

We booked this for a 2 night stay after a 2 week Budapest/Amsterdam river cruise and it met all our requirements and expectations. Hotels generally in Amsterdam seemed quite expensive and this was affordable but pricey for quality. Great location on Spuistraat handy for all attractions. We were very grateful to be assigned a room around 10.30 in the morning having left the boat around 10 and appreciate the friendly help of the reception staff. The layout of our room seemed distinctly odd and I had to move the bed to free up the one swivel chair trapped under the desk. Looked like the bed had once faced the window but had been moved through 90 degrees parallel with window, not that this bothered us. The breakfast was very good, lots of choice and everything you could possibly want but surprised the space was closed off outside of breakfast/no restaurant facility so an enormous space unused outside of breakfast. Obviously ample and abundant choice of nearby restaurants. We found two in the narrow alleys, right out of the hotel and left at the corner square past the impressive bookshops. One was De Rozenboom, styles as typically Dutch and what the Germans call "gemuetlich". Eccentrically full of mementos and Delft ware pottery, a tiny space, warm and welcoming, we enjoyed , respectively, a chicken and Wiener Schnitzel. Satisfying portions and reasonably priced. The following night we enjoyed genuine Italian at Il Vicolo also nearby. Which happens to be the name of our favourite restaurant in London. Friendly service in both. Taxi to Schipol airport was kindly arranged by reception and cost exactly 62 Euros as advised (half an hour journey). Also possible to reach by train /public transport but we had a lot of luggage.
