My boyfriend and I stayed at the Posthoorn to escape the January blues. We had an absolutely fantastic visit to Amsterdam, made all the better by staying in this gem of a B&B. The host, Francois, is a very warm and generous man who took the time to tell us the history of the house and area, help us plan...

We stayed in the Patio Room for 3 nights and loved it. The owner, Francois, is very helpful, kind and accommodating. He made us feel welcome instantly and was helpful with a map and information on restaurants, museums etc. The bed is very comfortable and I loved the warm tiles on the bathroom floor :). Breakfast was brought promptly at...

The owner of Posthoorn B&B, Francois, is very friendly & able to accommodate most requests. Stayed in room at rear of property. Nice size room, bathroom & small kitchenette with eating area. Breakfast time each morning was of our choosing. Location is excellent. Only 5 minutes walk to Anne Frank House (best to book online & weeks in advance). 15...

I stayed here with my friend and we had a lovely stay. We asked for two single beds and this was made up ready for us. From my first enquiry via email Francois was so very helpful. The information he gave us was brilliant (a better/more detailed map would have helped a little more) suggestions of places to visit and...

As you arrive at the Poosthorn B&B, you are greeted by Francois, proprietor, owner & resident of the 2 upstairs flats with his lovely wife and 3 beautiful children. You think you are enthralled by the elegant, comfortable, easy beauty of the inn, but after a few moments you realize you have just hit gold. Francois answers every question, guides...

I booked a stay based on reviews from TripAdvisor, and I was not disappointed. We stayed in the patio room because we wanted someplace quiet and in the back of the house rather than on the street. The room was plenty spacious for two people. It was also nicely decorated and had a lot of convenient little extras - plenty...

My husband & I arrived at the Posthoorn on Saturday, November 17. Our Canal Room was ready even though we arrived before check-in time. Our host, Francois, was there to welcome us and spent time telling us about the history of the Posthoorn and marked a map locating suggested restaurants. As it was Saturday, he offered to make dinner reservations...

My daughter and I stayed here on two different occasions in November, we had the back room upstairs the first time and the church room downstairs the second. We visited Amsterdam for the first time in early October, 2012. Five of us stayed at the Posthoorn B&B taking all three room they offered. First of all, it is a perfect location. This historic building is in one of the best parts of Amsterdam. We had two rooms for four adults and we were all happy with our stay. Staying here lets you experience Amsterdam as a local might. The neighborhood is charming and it is a world removed from the seedy part of town. The Posthoorn is a comfortable walking distance...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Housed within the fine walls of a listed historical 17th century canal house on one of Amsterdam's most picturesque canals in the heart of the city - the Prinsengracht - part of the UNESCO World Heritage, The Posthoorn Bed and Breakfast features three charming rooms which offer guests four-star luxury whilst staying in the Jordaan district. The Canal View Room, Patio Room and Hidden Church Room ooze opulent and stylish character within the pleasant atmosphere of this contemporary bed and breakfast flawlessly disguised in the old-fashioned exterior of this canal house. The history behind this interesting building dates back to 1578, during which time Catholics were refused to visit their churches so several hidden churches were built in private houses. Around 1650, one was built in the basement of what stands as The Posthoon today and if you wish the owner will be pleased to tell you the history of the house. The elegant decor of The Posthoorn is boasted throughout each and every room. The livingspaces feature a flat-screen cable TV, en-suite bathroom with under-floor heating, comfortable sofas, free wireless internet. In each room you will find a kitchenette including coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator complete with white wine, beer, orange juice, milk and mineral water. Full continental breakfast including freshly baked bread and croissants is served to guests in their room each morning. Staff aim to make guests' stay at the Posthoorn memorable. ... more   less
