Good hotel with hip vibe. Outdoor “barrel” hot tubs, cool reception area and lobby, great location (1 tram into the city centre) and very helpful staff. Would recommend it to others and hope to stay here again

I stayed in Olympic Hotel at IJsbaanpad 12 (1076 CV Amsterdam) between 16.12.2019 and 22.12.20219.
On 20.12.2019, at 2.15 pm, we left the sign on the knob requesting the chambermaid to make up the room. We were quite punctilious about this. That evening, about eight hours later, when we returned to our room, we were rather disappointed to see that our room had not been made up. And, to my our utter dismay, the shower soap had also not been replenished. (In truth, for four days it had not been).
I rang up the the concierge at about 9.07 pm, and spoke to a lady, to whom I expressed my dissatisfaction about the room's not having been cleaned up. The lady, to my utter consternation, was exceedingly defensive; she even had the blinking temerity to suggest that we had forgotten to hang the "make up the room" sign on the door knob. That was, to put it but mildly, awfully unfair, particularly when we were bloody dead certain that we had hung the right sign on the knob (as we always did whenever we left the room).
Further, she also remarked that the maid did not clean up rooms in the afternoon, an observation, our experience told us, was not quite correct because since the day we checked in, we had always got our room cleaned up in the afternoon when we left it for lunch.
On 20.12.2019, I emailed the customer service at info@olympichotel.nl expressing my unhappiness. Hitherto, a good one-and-a-half months have elapsed, but the hotel has not deigned to reply to me; not even an acknowledgement receipt of my email.
Anyone who is thinking of staying in this hotel should not only think twice but also not think at all about subjecting himself to such appalling room and customer service. (If only I had read another reviewer's comment concerning his awful experience staying there, which he posted in October 2019, I would not have had touched the hotel with a bargepole.

Our room was on the 12th out of 13th floor and it was a corner one so the view from the windows was exceptional. The room was very cozy and clean. The bed was big enough and comfortable. There were both shower and a bath tube with a hydro massage, which was so pleasant to take after a tiring day.
On the ground floor there is a really good restaurant, where I would highly recommend to try pasta.
Breakfast was included into the price of our room and it was very delicious. Menu is rather various and even if you are a vegetarian or a vegan, you will find plenty of options and will be full.
I would definitely come back to this hotel again.

My kids and I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. We were given a room with a canal view which was lovely to wake up to and have coffee overlooking the canals. We had a triple room which had a king size bed and a single bed but still with decent space to roam around. Beds are comfortable and the large rain shower was a big bonus. The hotel is in a quiet location but only 5 minutes walk to the tram station where tram 24 runs to the city centre every 6 minutes. We bought 72 hours GVB pass at the airport and was a good value as you can use unlimited access to trams, buses and metro.
Going back to Schiphol airport we took the 397 bus just in front of the Olympic stadium (10 mins walk from the hotel) for 6.95 euros for adults and just 1 euro for children below 12 y/o. We really enjoyed staying at this hotel and highly recommended if you want to be away from the noisy city centre after a long day sight seeing but with easy transport access both to the city and schiphol airport.

Just checked out this morning from a 3 night stay for our anniversary!
Firstly location is not too bad, about a half hour train ride into the centre. We had breakfast included which we really enjoyed apart from the limited hot food choices. Our room was unfortunately not cleaned at all throughout our stay despite having the clean me sign on the door everyday which is a huge shame with all thats going on with the coronavirus. Room was very basic with no milk or water supplied. Despite highlighting this to the receptionist on check out she just said sorry and there was nothing she could do as we had already paid for breakfast.
We dined in the restaurant the last evening and really enjoyed it, also had a lovely male waiter who really made our night after our original booking elsewhere was cancelled.
Overall restaurant was great just wouldnt recommend staying here due to it being very basic and not having a clean room to come back to! Shame we wont be returning!

I and my friends booked a room at this hotel for 3 days, appealed primarily by its affordable price. When we arrived there we were amazed at the freshly modern style of the hotel, as well as its coziness. We were given a room at the very top, so we had beautiful views of the city. The beds were super comfortable and we loved how big the shower was. We also appreciated that there was a kettle and some free tea and coffee in the room. Although the hotel may be a bit far from the city centre, that doesn't create much of a problem, since there is a metro station just a five minute walk away. The recepcionists were very helpful and polite. If I were to stay again in Amsterdam, I wouldn't hesitate to book a room at Olympic Hotel again :)

Little Hallingbury, United Kingdom159 contributions58 helpful votesWe were impressed on arriving at the hotel with the large modern lobby area and beautiful views over the canal. Our welcome at reception could've been a bit better (the receptionist didn't have much eye contact and shook a green protein shake while she was talking to me).
Our family room (double and bunk beds) was modern and had a great view of the Olympic Stadium and canal. We went down for a coffee mid morning, but they only had free simple coffee as the bar doesn't open until 5pm. The cocktails later were very nice however. There's a relaxed atmosphere in the lobby area.
We booked a hot tub in the early evening and that was a great bonus. It's free and a lovely place to relax overlooking the canal on the 2nd floor of the hotel. There's also a sauna and a gym there.
It's a very short walk from the tram station (Olympic Stadium) that goes all the way to Centraal Station on line 24 - you're at Dam in about 25 minutes - or you can change easily for the Museum Quarter before then.
Parking is expensive and breakfast seemed a bit pricey so we went across the road to De Drie Graefjes which offered a very varied menu.

We booked here as a surprise trip for my daughters 21st. The hotel is really nice and the staff are so friendly and helpful. There where chocolates and balloons put in my daughters room for us which was nice(€10).
Breakfast lovely but get down early on as can run out quick on busy periods.
Rooms very comfortable have everything you need with views. The bed omg I wonted to bring it home really nice. Train station to get to centre just five min walk and trams running all the time. Bus to the airport only five min walk to catch and about 10-15€ cheaper than taxi drops you have in same place as taxi would.
All in all fantastic stay would visit this hotel again 100%

I had a special request attached to my reservation that was made two weeks prior, that I wanted a bath in the room and if that’s possible.
While checking in she said that they’re fully booked so a room with a bath isn’t possible anymore. If I knew about this in the weeks prior, I would’ve upgraded or something else. Receptionist at hotel didn’t speak proper Dutch or English. She didn’t understand me at all. Nothing was explained about breakfast, how to get to the veranda or gym. She just gave me the key, pointed me to the elevator and I had to figure it out myself. When I called about a late checkout around midnight, the girl was obviously laughing with her co-workers and didn’t take me seriously. I called again in the morning just to speak to someone else.
Overall, loved the bed and the rain shower, but the service was very bad for a 4* hotel. Also, if you are a woman and have to walk alone from the station to the hotel at night, I wouldn’t recommend you to do it. The area is dodgy and groups of men made remarks to different women walking by.

It’s €20,-
And the area isn’t save, they tell you this when you check-in.
Hey! Myself and my partner are just back from a trip here. I would highly recommend buying a travel pass at the airport, it cost us €28 for three days and it covers bus, train, tram and the ferry.
In regards to your question we got the train to Central station and from there you can get the 24 tram to the hotel, get off at the Olympic Stadium it is only a 2-3 minute walk from there.
