This was my first trip solo trip to Amsterdam and i was fortunate to have picked the backstage hotel. This place has an a special "feel" with its great design and exceptional music selection. The staff are excellent, helpful and friendly, makes you feel at home. They always suggested places to visit, areas to explore, directions , culture you name...

The staff was absolutely friendly! I also found the decoration very cool. You might not like it if you're not a musician :P The bed was very comfortable. And the best part is that the hotel is located in front of the Vondel Park, 1 minute walk from the Sugar Factory and 3 minutes walk from the Bulldog.

I spent 6 nights in the BackStage Hotel with my girlfriend in september 2013. The hotel is well connected with the airport (30 minutes taking bus 197) and there are buses every 15 minutes. The staff is friendly and they suggest interesting places to visit in Amsterdam. It is close to the center (less than 10 minutes to Bloemenmarkt) and...

Second time staying. This time it was two couples in a room with a bathroom. First time we had a sink and a hall bathroom. It was clean and they accommodated our request for a cot at an up charge since it was a 3 bedroom. The breakfast was pretty good and cheap. Great experience both times. Didn't spend a...

I really liked the personnel at this hotel. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable except for the rug which which was dirty. Also, sharing a bathroom and shower with 20 somethings who are wasted from the Milky Way nextdoor was pretty unpleasant. People sang and yelled outside all night on a Friday. However, the location is fabulous...

Considering that we paid EUR145 per night, this place was very disappointing. The rooms were dark, grubby, smelly. I found a cigarette under the bed and my mate found a spider in her bed. It was a nightmare. The bathrooms are shared and not cleaned regularly. Our room was in the basement and we slept with our clothes on in...

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
