I stayed here for 3 nights with my wife. The apartment is basic, however it is very clean and in a great central location. If you are looking for somewhere central at a good price and clean then look no further. The host was excellent and very helpful. So glad we stayed here and saved over £200 compared to similar...

This studio is what you need if you intend to stay in Amsterdam for a few days. The spacious apartment with its cool interior is very cozy. Plus the distance to all the spots you need to visit are so near. Miro who is the owner is also very helpful. I will recommend and definitely go back.

We stayed for three nights during our stay in Amsterdam and were very satisfied. The apartment we had was spacious and a good place to stay if you don't plan to spend the whole day there. Kitchen and bathroom are a bit basic, but perfectly serviceable. Miro, the landlord, was very friendly and helpful. The greatest plus is the location:...

I stayed here for 3 nights - it was perfect for what we were looking for! Amazing location short walking distance from everything! (Dam Sq, Central Station, Red Light). The apartment is clean and spacious - we spent a lot more time in there than expected as it was so easy to get to and comfortable! The owner is LOVELY...

I stayed here from the 27th-30th of December with my sister! I'm nearly 21 and she is nearly 18. It was easy to find and we were welcomed and showed around the flat. Friendly and informative. GREAT location. So central but not too noisy. The apartment was extremely clean and looked exactly like the pictures. 10/10!

The good: very spacious apartment, very nice couches and TV, free wifi, clean, functional kitchen, very helpful owner, and very very central. The bad: the bed sheets and pillows were very old. No toilet paper (so we had to make trip to the shops to buy some - this is very basic!). No shower gel (this is arguable given this...

We stayed in the second floor apartment which had great views onto the street below. The facilities are good- a huge sofa, tv with English channels, hairdryer, fridge, stereo, huge (very comfy) double bed, microwave and a shower room. The only improvement that needed to be made is a change of kettle- it took over half an hour to boil...

We booked for 6 nights during Amsterdam pride and stumbled across ultraviolet (as limited options at this time of year). Location was in the red light district, which was walking distance to most of the city. Although there is a small kitchen we didn't find it very usable (no cutlery/crockery, kettle) just a microwave (which we didn't use) and a...

This is a very comfortable, clean place to stay in the middle of town an easy walk from the central railway station. I had no trouble with noise. The steps are very steep up to apt, so not suitable for any one with knee/hip issues.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for three nights over Easter weekend this year and we loved this place. Amsterdam is a compact city that is easily explored by foot or bicycle, but Ultraviolet Studios is located right in the centre of town, 2-3 minutes walk away from Dam Sqaure, 10 minutes walk away from Centraal station and right on...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.

“we were on the 2nd floor apartment, nice street views and quiet enough at night with the windows shut and the metal blinds down. don't forget, the old Dutch were seafarers, so their stairs are 'steep' ..take care and enjoy Amsterdam.”
