Located close to the historic old town of ’s-Hertogenbosch, this is the ideal base for culture lovers and city trippers. Its convenient location with regard to various (national) parks and nature reserves means that many nature lovers make their way to de Soete Moeder monastery hotel. Families can rent a comfy apartment while the hotel’s tranquil surroundings make it ideally suited to business guests. Or as a previous guest commented: “We really enjoyed a hotel in an original context and with a delicious breakfast, {…} The rooms are chique and trendy, with reference to their past but adapted to modern comfort.” With its stylish furnishings, the monastery hotel is an attraction in itself. The beautifully restored chapel is ideally suited to meetings. The plaque from the Kring Vrienden ’s-Hertogenbosch (’s-Hertogenbosch Friends Circle) shows that the listed building has been restored with respect for the past. During the summer you can settle down with a drink in the large monastery gardens. Lively ’s-Hertogenbosch offers interesting sights such as St. John’s Cathedral, the Jheronimus Bosch Art Center and various lovely historic passages with countless restaurants and shops. You can view the town from a different angle during a boat trip on the Binnendieze. Its central location means you can visit the Efteling, Beekse Bergen, the Autotron and nature reserves such as the Loon and Drunen Dunes, the Bossche Broek and the Moerputten from the hotel.

The building itself is stunning but not sure about its suitability to be a hotel. It still has the convent feel and people whisper and sit in silence, breakfast room felt very strange with all eating but not talking and background music so quiet it was inaudible. I had read there was a bar and was disappointed to realize it closes at 6pm and after that there is an honestly bar, which meant that if you fancied a glass of wine during the evening you had to buy an half bottle (12,50)! The terrace and garden are beautiful and we sat outside a lot, but had the weather been bad then you’d sit in your room because there wasn’t other facility. We just had a standard room and I have never been in such a small hotel room, the (very comfy bed) literally filled the room, the bathroom was nearly as big and very nice and modern shower room. I know it used to be a convent but our room, room 7, was not big enough to be used as a guest room. It was nice and clean. Breakfast, don’t waste 16,50 on this, no cereal only oats & muesli with yogurt, which is good and healthy but short of choice. Bacon but only about 6 pieces for all to share and boiled eggs but not fried or scrambled. This all sounds negative but we really did enjoy our stay, it just was not at all what we expected or had experienced before for 100 per night.

Situated in a quiet street close to the city center. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Our bed was extra large and very comfy. The shower isn’t very firm, but ok. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is located just outside the city center and can easily be reached by car. The hotel have spaces you can use for a fee in a parking garage nearby. The receptionist was very welcoming and we could check in at once - even though we arrived quite early. Our room was on the ground floor and not a room I would recommend. It had windows towards a garden. It was nice and quiet, but when the window is so low on the wall that passers by easily can put their head through the opening it’s not really my cup of tea. What was worse was that the staff had wardrobes (probably for towells and bed linens) just outside our door, and they keps slamming the doors ever so often. The bathroom was large and clean, but the shower was directly on the floor and had no wall or curtain - just a mop hanging on the wall so you could deal with the water after showering. Why there is not a wall between the shower and the sink beats me. It certainly is not because the room are meant for disabled persons because the space between the bed and the bathroom door is not very large. The bed however was comfortable, the TV had an adequat selection of channels and there was coffe/tea facilities,

I am writinf from a breakfast room innthe hotel vefore departure. Night experience still fresh, so you will get first hand impressions. we came late yesterday, after midnight. reception was closed and when we asked, where can we park, we were told on the phone, they are not sure, if we have garage. Garage can not be arranged, so we got recommendation to park on the street by the park as it's free during night and morning hours. Our colleague had our keys, unfortunately one of our colleagues wrong key has been given and in his room another person was sleeping already. I came into a cold room, it's winter now so was not too much fun and I had to figure out how to turn on heating. Room was nothing special, with a bath that was special. If You look kindly at the picture, towels did not look too fresh and one of the big towels had two black smears on it, so this told me, they were not fresh. Also one fun part, the toilet paper holder was so close to the toilet, that also a medium size person could not sit on without touching the toilet paper holder. Breakfast very unsatisfactory, butter was (I am on me to diet) only served, not packed and was not available for all, all the time. So avoid if possible, if You are as me and my colleagues after a full day in work and several thousand km travel. I have stayed in room 25, night from 5th to 6th of Feb 2019.

Stayed here on a business trip in November. Room was very clean, staff was fun and very helpful for restaurant suggestions and sight-seeing, and dinner was amazing. It is a walking distance to the center of town, which we walked to every day.

Staff was very friendly and experienced. We were well informed about everything. They have a parking space minutes walking distance from hotel although it costs an extra 13 euro per day. Room was clean and breakfast good. The monastery garden is gorgeous. Location isn't 10 minute walk from city center.

In general the hotel is interesting as it is old sisters' church, but the prices do not fit to quality....13,5 EUR for breakfast, where you don't have anything hot or 13EUR for parking which is located 5 minutes by walk... Fresh juices and very fresh and even hot breads. Hotel clean, rooms cleaned up every day, crew nice and and helpfull, beautifull ladies.... :) Noone from the crew available inside the hotel between 23-7. If there were no additional fees I would recommend, but in total too expensive for the served quality

I stayed here recently with friends as part of a cycling tour of Holland. We found it to be an excellent hotel, clean rooms, helpful and friendly staff, and the meals we had (dinner & buffet breakfast) were both very good, with lots of choice at the breakfast. Good value in terms of cost and well situated for the main part of the town. Recommended, whether you are travelling as a couple, single traveller or with friends.

De Soete Moeder is a small modern hotel created inside a former convent building. Rooms are comfortably sized with excellent bathrooms and showers, and a good breakfast is served in the dining room. The hotel is about 15 minutes walking distance from the Markt and thus not as convenient to restaurants, shops and historic sites as more centrally located hotels. However, the hotel has a pleasant quiet courtyard where you can enjoy breakfast and dinner, and is just across the street from a large park with walking paths and a small zoo. What is most special about De Soete Moeder is its mission to train young people for jobs in the hospitality industry. It is clear that a strong emphasis is placed on customer service. All the personnel, from the reception desk to the kitchen and dining staff, are extremely friendly and welcoming and appear to genuinely enjoy their jobs.

The good news: This recently opened hotel and restaurant is well appointed and spotless and 10 to 15 minutes' walk from the city centre. The reception staff, for the most part, is friendly and attentive and the guest room space, especially the large bathroom, is generous. We also appreciated the in-room table and small refrigerator. The bad news: The management doesn't honor its promises on price. We booked through the hotel's website after getting a much lower price on Priceline and Expedia because the hotel website promised the best price and to meet any other offer. We also wanted to save the hotel the aggregator's fee. Upon checkin, the young woman at reception politely said she would check with her colleague after assuring us the price was the same on all booking sites. However, when we raised this price issue the next day after not hearing back, the manager on duty firmly refused to honor the lower price, first stating that the prices were the same, and then once we showed him screenshots taken at the time of our online booking with the hotel's website, which screenshots showed the lower price on Priceline, for the same days, the manager on duty refused to honor its website promise to match any lower price, explaining that there were certain promotions with other booking sites that the hotel didn't offer on its own website. This decision by hotel management left us with a feeling that the hotel website had misrepresented its pricing promise. This conversation with the manager on duty left us feeling ill used. We experienced further evidence that the hotel is going through some growing pains on other hospitality issues.. When about a dozen young men, presumably fellow guests, camped out around dusk for cigarettes and beers, literally on the doorstep of our garden room, with their chairs up against the door to our room, we were forced to find the manager on duty, who was not readily available, as there was no one at reception. When she was finally located, which took some time, she reluctantly agreed to ask these young me to move farther away. We were grateful she did as the noise level increased with their alcohol consumption. Some smaller details: our room lacked storage facilities. There was no dresser or shelves for clothes. The shower has no curtain or door to separate it from the rest of the bathroom. We recommend potential guests check out the bathroom before booking. Guests are provided a large squeegee for the shower and are expected to clear water from the floor into a drain after they shower. Finally each day of our stay there were issues with replenishing towels and coffee. Unfortunately, the failure to honor its price guarantee colored our entire stay. If you decide to stay here, book the lowest price you can find anywhere other than the hotel's own booking site.

Dear mister, miss, After reading your review on tripadvisor we would like to reply and explain some points in your review. First of all we regret your stay wasn't like you imagined it would be. It is our goal to make a stay in our hotel pleasant for every guest. The prices of our hotelrooms are fluctuent. This means prices can change at any time of the day. The price you see when you decide to make a reservation is the price you pay for your stay. After you have made the reservation the prices can still change due to various reasons for example last minute prices. You will find this happening in all hotels just as in airline companies. The prices we offer on our website are the same prices we offer on all other bookingchannels like booking.com and expedia, except for incedental price offers on these sites. These special offers on booking.com and expedia make we cannot meet every price that is offered on other websites. This isn't what we state on our website and we feel sorry you feel mislead by anything you have read. Guests are always free to contact the hotel to make sure they book the best offer. I hope this reply clarifies the price issue to you. If not, please feel free to contact me or our staff for further explanation. You can contact us at +31 (0) 73 2048840 or info@desoetemoeder.nl. Finally we hope we can offer you a more pleasant stay in the future. With kind regards, Eric Schroër General Manager of Kloosterhotel de Soete Moeder
