This place is just fantastic . On a recent day out driving in the Peak District we stopped here for lunch. We hadn't booked but this was not a problem. In this 600 + yr old pub yes I said 600 yrs old (thats older than my dad) you can feel the history. I love the atmosphere of buldings so...

Really nice place full of history and beautiful things inside. Food was amazing. Heartily recommend the Steak and Kidney pie, beautiful. Staff really pleasant and welcoming. Will be going again, even though it's over 100 mile drive, but worth it.

Stayed at the weekend. The bar area is quite historic with various militaria items on the walls including 2 suits of amour. Cosy roaring fire completed the experience. For evening meal had the steak - it was excellent. Room was very comfortable with ample supplies of tea, coffee etc on the kettle tray. Breakfast is orange juice, tea or coffee...

We stayed at Bull i' th' Thorn for 2 nights in early September on a driving holiday around the UK. I had booked via Expedia the night before and there were no problems with the booking. However, we arrived about 4.15pm and there was no one around. After finding the Opening Hours times, stating they re-open mid-week at 5.30pm, we...

We stayed here for a night as part of a multi-stop holiday. What a lovely place! We arrived slightly before 3pm, and were given a warm welcome by the landlady. The inn dates back to the 15th century, and is packed full of antiques and knick-knacks collected across the centuries since, which gives it such a cozy, warm feeling (just...

Interesting old pub / restaurant with a wishing well near the entrance. The food selection is good & the food tasty. There is a wonderful selection of drinks including the obvious beers & wines. It's remote location gives it a warm & welcoming atmosphere.

We organised a party for 150 people with live music in the barn. The Bull I Th Thorn were extremely helpful and did everything they could to ensure it was an incredible event for everyone there. All guests either camped on their camping field or made use of the pubs guest rooms. Everyone was happy with the facilities and location....

We stayed at a B&B nearby, so ate twice at this pub. We loved the history and feel of the place, but also the delicious homemade food. Food was fresh, served quickly, and reasonable. We had steak pie, chicken pie, burger, and scampi - all was great, with homemade chips. Bathrooms were clean. Parking convenient. Highly recommend!

Lovely pub just outside Buxton. Very old, 1472, with lots of artefacts from years gone by. Food was homemade and excellent quality and value. Friendly service and just what an old English pub should be. Wide range of beers and food on offer and genuine warmth.
