Had a delicious meal with 12 friends on a Wednesday afternoon.
We ordered on arrival from their varied menu, with meals to satisfy all tastes, the portions are more than ample. All meals served within an acceptable time for cooked to order food ,

Lovely country pub. I had a delicious chilli con carne. My husband had the millionaires fish pie, he said it was the best fish pie he had ever tasted. Very generous portions. Definitely recommend this place if you're in the area.

I recently visited The Royal Oak on a Sunday late afternoon, which I had booked a for a table of 9 people the previous evening, on arrival 4 people out of our party were running late but our table was not ready straight away anyway so we waited at the bar and had a drink while we waited. We got seated when the rest of our party arrived about 15 minutes late. I was told on the phone that they may run out of roast dinners with the time we were booked in for but luckily they still had plenty. Most of our party had starters, I had the prawn cocktail, it was a good portion for the price, other had the pate and bread to pate ratio was good, the soup was nice. For mains I had the lamb roast, and 3 others had the roast also we were all very pleased, portion size again was good, the only thing I might say was is the potatoes were a bit over-seasoned with salt but luckily I liked them still. My sister had the salmon this is off the Sunday menu and she was not overly impressed with this, and my mum had the chicken nacho salad which she was also not impressed with as there was more variety of salad on the side salad than her main meal salad it was just lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes all hidden under masses of nacho tortillas. The desserts were all really nice too, we all had a variety of all of them, a lot of us had the crumble though which was really tasty. We did have to check where 1 drinks order was as I think they had forgotten and one drink came out slightly wrong but easily and quickly fixed. Overall had a nice time and staff were nice, friendly and attentive. Would recommend for a nice Sunday lunch out in the country.

My family and I recently stayed at the Royal Oak for the 2nd year in a row. This time around we were 24 strong for my friends 40th Birthday Bash another friend who was a similar age. The bunk barns at the royal oak always offer us the perfect accommodation for us to stay the weekend; all friends and their families in the same accommodation, extremely close to the Tissington Trail and a lovely pub next door. On arrival we were helped with our accommodation very well with the staff offering us suggestions on when to eat and what to do. Extremely helpful with the number of children we brought with us.
The meal on the saturday night was was excellent pub grub with generous portions all rounded off by the children with a selection of ice creams including a dairy free alternative.
Thank you so much for helping to make our friends birthday a wonderful celebration.
