Travellers' Choice
Our affable and attentive staff bring a contemporary edge to the traditional 18th century inn; nestled in an area of outstanding natural beauty beneath the Sussex Downs. At close proximity to the nearby attractions of Brighton, Eastbourne and Tunbridge Wells, the Blacksmiths Arms is perfectly placed as a base to explore all that the Sussex countryside has to offer. We offer spacious 4 star bed and breakfast accommodation, with each of the superior quality, comfortable bedrooms featuring an en suite bathroom; flat screen TV as well as tea and coffee making facilities. New refurbishment promises stylish decoration and uncompromised cleanliness. Upon renovation, the downstairs bar and restaurant area takes a new lease of life, with a host of new local beers, lagers and a delectable wine list. Our chef cooks traditional pub classics as well as a delicious Jamaican menu. Where possible, our supplies are sourced locally.

A pub with character, bar area clean lots of tables, bar maid was friendly with banter. We stayed for one night and I would not hesitate in returning the rooms were very clean, bed linen was amazing, toiletries provided, tea/coffee provided if you wanted more you just had to ask. Restaurant food was very good. Breakfast was cereals/yoghurt/toast/cooked breakfast which set us up for the day, orange juice and coffee were good. Car parking also available.. would definitely return.

Great pub with Jamaican food - I had the fish special and it was great. Red stripe lager very reasonably priced as well - good place. Nice atmosphere and dog friendly as well - lots of different dog but more lurchers in one pub than I’ve been seen!

No where on booking website we used, did it state pub/restaurant closed Monday and Tuesday. Owner wouldn't let us cancel, when she phoned evening before. Room clean, we were upgraded, tv about 10inches. Tea/coffee poor only 2 milk sachets. Breakfast poor, cereal and juice, or cooked breakfast. If like me I dont eat full english no pastries, fruit, yogurt. The worst was first night 2am fire alarm goes off, no staff on site, we are standing in freezing car park for 1 hour, we call fire brigade. The neighbour of the pub called the owner who reluctantly arrived. Next night 12.30am fire alarm goes off again, so in car park again. Absolutely shattered. We asked for a reduction off the bill as no sleep, there was no apology instead she complained SHE hadn't had any sleep for 2 nights. Wow thought we were the customers. Eventually she discounted £27 !! We have come home for a good sleep and will avoid at all costs.

Short distance from Lewes. Stayed 2 nights. Really friendly pub, good staff, good food and clean and comfortable accommodation. Used the restaurant one night. Great Jamaican food on offer ( a little spicy for me but that's just personal choice). English choice also available. Great breakfast freshly cooked. Would certainly revisit.
