At FIVE Zurich, opinions on value diverge, with numerous guests critical of the high prices relative to room size and unexpected charges, potentially overshadowing the hotel's merits. The rooms elicit mixed reactions, ranging from dissatisfaction with their size and cleanliness to commendations for their spaciousness and comfort. The hotel's pool and restaurants are often highlighted as luxurious, yet some visitors raise concerns about hidden fees and noise. Cleanliness standards and the atmosphere also receive both praise and criticism, the latter due to occasional overbearing noise levels and unusual dining experiences. Service is generally lauded for its attentiveness, though not without occasional language misunderstandings and fee disputes. The location is widely appreciated for its serenity and proximity to central Zurich.

We had a very nice stay, and after requesting an upgrade to a room with a city view. Even for Zurich residents, it's nice to see the city from another side.
We had an excellent meal in the Penthouse restaurant and were served courteously. The children were also welcome. English is primarily spoken at reception, but a little more German would have been nice. We ordered breakfast in our room because the prices in the restaurant were too expensive for us.

There are parts of this hotel we love, but there are parts that leave a lot to be desired.
The indoor pool is excellent.
We booked based on the pools, but the outdoor pool is closed and this was not stated before we booked.
The gym is quite poor, there is only one combined machine, a bench with light weights and several treadmills.
The rooms are great (eventually).
Our room stank of smoke so we asked to be moved.
The check-in experience was not what you would expect for a five-star.
The food in the restaurant was very average but very expensive.
There were pets at the tables at breakfast, we had to move because 2 dogs were barking at each other.
This might be weird to some, but it was to us, there are no normal sausages at breakfast, only chicken sausages,
We asked and the lady said they don't have any sausages at any of their restaurants, but they serve sausage at dinnertime.
The coffee is average, I was surprised by this.
It is quite noisy, you can hear music from your hotel room.
I asked for change in euros for the cleaner at reception and they said they would have to charge me commission!
I asked about a late checkout and reception said an extra hour would cost a half-day fee.
We have stayed in the four seasons for example before and the difference in attention by staff is massive.
The hotel staff seem more interested in events and visitors to the bars than in the guests of the hotel.
We were going to stay in the Dubai residence as I travel a lot for work, but this experience has changed that decision.

Nice location a bit outside of the city center. The hotel is very nicely decorated, both inside and outside. The rooms from the new building are priced around CHF 250 for one night without breakfast, and I would not recommend them. The rooms are quite small and not as clean as you would expect from a 5-star hotel. The minibar made a lound white noise the whole night and and it was impossible to turn off one of the lights, both making a good night sleep just impossible. There is a glass wall between the bathroom and the room and you get a prime view of your partner during their most private moments. No curtain or functionality to turn this glass opaque. Don't book this category if you just started dating. While some of the staff were friendly and helpful, some others were way too familiar/rude. The worst being the housekeeper from our floor not greeting us and wearing airpods or having loud (probably private) phone calls in the hallway. Spa is pretty, but parts of the marble floor by the pool is cracked. You can even bring some piece home as souvenir! Long waiting times to order and be served at the pool even with just a handful of other guests. All in all, it doesn't really meet expectations and doesn't compare to other five-star hotels in Switzerland. That's a shame considering the potential of such a property.

Has a lot of hidden fees, makes you pay a deposit to eat also makes you pay for the service when bring food up to the room, room cleaning just anything that makes you pay for the service they never told us anything about this only told us to pay and go to our room. The room is a long way down too. No helping with baggage, i bet they will charge us to put our luggages in the room too. Not good service at all, just rude and not welcoming at all. Never coming back to this hotel, food portions were so tiny for such an expensive price. We stayed for 5 nights and they we had to pay £470! We spent £330 when we didnt even buy a lot of food etc if we were told about the service and room cleaning would be charged we would never end up asking for it. The room cleaners didnt bother to give more tissues, and oh my gosh the hotels conditioner had water inside it there was no conditioner at all. If it wasnt for my partner i would have made a huge complaint there but he didnt want any issues. The room was so basic it was just a normal hotel room for 5 stars im so shocked its tiny and the bathroom shower gets the whole floor wet. Our sink was chipped when we first came how horrible can you be to give us a room that isnt even good. The only good rooms are in the main room not the east wing where the rooms such a long way down i have asthma so it was really bad when i had to keep walking up, theres no lifts or anything. The pool was really nice however.. didnt like how there wasnt enough lay beds. Worst experience ever for my birthday trip.

We booked a single night. The room in the annex cost 250 Fr. per night. Breakfast 100.- CHF surcharge. Parking again 30 Fr. The rooms are newly renovated but far too small. If you put the bag in the room on the floor, you can't actually walk through it anymore. So we paid 380 francs for a little rabbit coop. The lighting in the bathroom was also a disaster because you couldn't really see yourself through the dominant spot above your head. So I had to jump into the hallway again and again to see myself properly. But there was always the bathroom door in the way, which I had to close again first so that I had room to stand in the hallway at all. Ironing a wardrobe with clothes did not exist at all. For the hairdryer there was also no socket in the bathroom, I had to plug it in in the hallway, but the cable did not reach to the mirror so I could not see myself in the mirror while blow-drying. This is definitely not a five star level for me. The room was still dirty and dusty and the TV stopped every 5 minutes, as if the online connection were shutting down. What also bothered me was that only English is spoken in the whole hotel and only a single service spoke German at breakfast. After all, this hotel is in Switzerland, where you might assume German. For me that was not a problem, because I speak very good English but I could not send my parents here for example. The breakfast was very fine and quality equipped. There was really everything your heart desires. Nevertheless, I find 100 Fr. for breakfast for two an absolute naughtiness. I would never pay more. Although the quality of the food was given. But you can never eat so much here that it would justify the 50 francs per person.

I had high hopes we had found a real bargain from the pictures and the 5 stars. And this hotel has potential however the little details like cleanliness need to be addressed.
What caught my eye that made me do a deeper look was food crumbs down the side of the bed when we arrived to then find what can only be described as an absolutely filthy room. I did address this with the reception staff at 9:30pm on the first day and their offer was to come clean the room at that time. My daughter was asleep so that wasn’t an option. I gave the staff the benefit of the doubt and house cleaning woke us up at 9 to ask if we wanted the room cleaned which we said yes. Arriving back later we found they had done a basic clean but everywhere was still full of filth and dirt and the coffee machine was still absolutely filthy. The reception took the cost of parking of the hotel (£60) for the inconvenience (we paid nearly £1k for 2 nights and £300 for food over the 2 days as well as tips on top) see photos and videos for yourself.

They did not respect our room type reservation and charged us 100 Francs more, saying that they would give us a "suite."
The first night we found some white bugs inside the fur bedspread!
The only thing they did was remove the bedspread!
The next day, we found a cockroach! And they didn't do anything!
Restaurant prices very expensive! Breakfast 45 francs for a bread, juice and ham? And what can we say about dinner, 8 people eating rice and something else at the Japanese restaurant, we paid $660.00 francs!
In total for extras they charged us $4000.00 francs, apart from the $2900.00 that I had originally already paid!
Besides, it is outside the center of Zurich in a pretty ugly area!
I would never recommend it to anyone, rubbish!

We stayed at the hotel for 1 night & unfortunately our expectations were not met. We got a room for almost 300.- which was not only extremely small but also dirty. Especially in the bathroom it was extremely dusty. The design of the bathroom is also not well thought out in my view, when showering you flood the whole floor with the water, as it has no door or indentation separating the shower cubicle from the rest of the area. It was also very stuffy in the room, the windows could not be opened. Breakfast costs another 50.- extra per person and is really good, there is something for everyone and the quality is right. However, the price is excessive, you can never eat enough to get the value out of it. The staff was very friendly, however you seemed a bit overwhelmed; it was partly not brought what was ordered. We ended up not having to pay for breakfast or parking (which costs 30.- extra again), but were here for the first and last time. This is simply not a 5-star level.

We had been guests in the hotel before the hotel was converted (from Atlantis to Five) and were excited to see how the hotel would present itself as a new concept.
One highlight was right at the beginning: we were given a surprise upgrade.
The room is incredibly spacious and offers a lot of space. Everything is very clean.
We slept well in the comfortable bed. The blanket and pillows are of very good quality.
We particularly appreciate the peace and quiet in the hotel. The hotel is located outside the city in a recreational area.

We dined once in the Soul Restaurant and once in the Penthouse. The Penthouse Restaurant beats everything. The interior and the view are simply amazing. The staff are excellently trained, we were served in a friendly and excellent manner. The wine prices are high, but that is normal in a 5-star hotel.
We ordered various sushi platters and everything tasted excellent. We were able to enjoy a truly romantic evening.
The spa was a bit crowded on Saturday afternoon, but we know that from other hotels during rush hour. It's not the hotel's fault. If you use a good time slot, a stay in the spa (sauna, steam bath, whirlpool and swimming pool) is worth it.

All in all, we were very positively surprised by the renovation and the Hotel FIVE can hold its own internationally with its 5 stars.

We'll be back, it's our new favorite hotel in Zurich because we appreciate the quiet, beautiful location and the great gastronomy in this hotel exceeded our expectations.

Already upon discovering the website, I should have had concerns... Because before choosing this 5-star hotel (first joke!!!), I advise you to check 2 - 3 things...
First point, when I arrive in a place where I speak the language poorly, in this case Swiss German in Zurich, I always apologize, in the local language, for my shortcomings. In this hotel they tell you: “No problem, no one speaks German here”… I hope it was just a joke… Otherwise, the locals will appreciate it!
Let's talk about the room, certainly large, rather clean, but without charm, overlooking a kind of sad forest and an outdoor swimming pool closed for the winter with its abandoned deck chairs... Despite everything, between the gray forest and the view of the hlm from Zürich I wonder if which is better! (In this regard, the website of this hotel boasts of the view with beautiful photos, including views of the lake, but none are really realistic in my opinion and no view of the lake from the rooms) .
When checking in, I ask if the swimming pool is open, yes but for children it is only from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. No matter how much I searched the site, I never found this information. Too bad, for my children, the swimming pool is important!
For breakfast, you can count on staff (in the singular) who do their best with a smile, helped by an intern who was at reception the previous day…
For the evening, also remember to check if the restaurant you have chosen is open on the evening of your choice, because one of the particularities of this hotel is that the restaurants are closed for a good part of the week... As for the swimming pool, I still wondering where this information was accessible on their website.
However, you will still have the "Soul Street" restaurant for an immersive street food experience, which according to this hotel consists of too loud music, a waiter writing your order on his hand (to be more mistaken), dim lights which do not allow you to see your plate and to finish this atmosphere, of a wall “tagged” with a representation of kama-sutra… charming.
The second evening, we ordered room service, resulting in an unset table, delivered like an Amazon package, a Caesar salad bathed in its sauce and accompanied by “rosé” chicken, a club sandwich dripping with industrial mayonnaise and lukewarm fries. .
In short, a hotel without charm, without purpose, a vast joke.
A barely good 5 star for penniless Russians looking for a semblance of luxury and entertainment. A pale copy of a cool and designer hotel, but empty and without perspective, which seems run by a management who thinks that it is enough to pile up outdated concepts and place untrained staff to make cash.
A word of advice: find a nice hotel in the center of Zurich, less pompous, without a swimming pool, without the 3 - 4 restaurants, without the 5 stars, but where you will have a good time.
