Having been to Zürich on business earlier, decided to try it out as a holiday destination amid travel worries all over the world due to Covid-19. Had some prerequisites for the hotel: all necessary services within walking distance without staying in the "Altstadt" itself as well as reasonable chances for social distancing (i.e. wider streets and open spaces around). Did the homework and opted for St. Gotthard Hotel thanks to its location and feedback from fellow travellers, moreover, the hotel put a seasonal offer on their web pages that was very hard to resist. The hotel embraces character, history and style, not to be found in bigger chain hotels. The building itself is beautiful. Photos and posters in the floor lounges tell stories of visits, gatherings and performances where St. Gotthard Hotel has played a role, either by acting as the host or accommodating guests visiting Zürich for its various performances by world-class music & opera houses from all over the world. The chandeliers add to the ambiance. Needed a twin-bedded room and were lucky to be assigned room 235 with soothing colours in different shades of brown - a traditional look & feel - as well as a lengthy balcony overlooking the busy Bahnhofstrasse. There seem to be rooms of different sizes and colour schemes at St. Gotthard Hotel (red, brown…); ours is airy, bright and pleasant as well as well-insulated from the street noise that is not too bad, really. All the staff we have been in contact with are professional and delightful, always willing to assist. Wanting to sleep late when on holiday and taking a long morning walk right after wake-up, however, have been skipping breakfast so far and cannot comment on that at all, while the breakfast ends at 10 AM already. Hope to try their breakfast before going home. This hotel oozes history and style, not to be found elsewhere in Zürich. We're very happy with our choice and hope to be back at St. Gotthard next time in Zürich.…
Great location Good Breakfast minutes to the main central station You are right in the center easily accessible Multiple food options Great Shower had a very nice stay We had booked a triple room housekeeping could be better, but the other things outnumbered it
This is an amazing hotel! We travel in Europe a couple times a year, this was our first in Switzerland. We felt right at home as soon as we arrived at hotel! Our room was ready as requested, with balcony overlooking Bahnhostrassse street. If your taking tours, it's a 10 minute walk to meeting place! Close to restaurants and shops! Piano Bar , thank you for a great meal everynight, after our tours!!!!!!! Great buffet breakfast, also! Asma ,thank you for everything!
Close to the railway station and the old town. Bit noisy. Decent room and very good shower. Breakfast was nice, unrushed and with a good selection of food. Strange entrance way and set up of public areas, but all in all a comfortable hotel for exploring Zurich
This was a great place to stay. The rooms were great, clean and spacious. The bed and the pillows were wonderful. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We had breakfast as part of our package and like everything else, it was also excellent. In the evening there was a wonderful piano player in the lobby bar who could play anything. Glad we stayed here.
