It's a very good hotel, really grand. We had a room with a lake view. a small balcony, nice bathroom, and all amenities endemic to a good hotel. They have a small gym on the 9th floor with an adjacent sauna and steam room. If you have a car the parking is in the train station garage (CHF40 for 24 hr). You have to drive past the hotel for about 100 m and make a left. You can briefly park across from the hotel entrance to unload your luggage

Excellent historic hotel in a picturesque location right on the lake. From a view standpoint, splurging for the lake-view room is worth it. The staff was friendly and helpful and the area is beautiful and walkable. The room was large and comfortable and breakfast was excellent. Huge bonus, right across the street from the train station.
I have a couple of complaints and I have these same complaints with every one of these older, historic hotels. They seem to be lacking in soundproofing and transfer noise from adjacent or above rooms. Second, every balcony hotel in Europe seems to allow smoking. This is unfair to those of us who don't smoke. I don't want to smell or hear people in the adjoining rooms. I also DO want to enjoy my balcony. I'm sure there's some sort of a calculation and because most Europeans smoke, they allow it. I have yet to be at a balcony hotel that didn't allow smoking and it's annoying. Can't even open the windows if the balcony next to you or below you is smoking. It just comes right in the room. Completely unfair.

We enjoyed our stay at the elegant ‘Belle Epoque’ themed Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic Montreux located just across from the train station in the middle of Montreux. Its prime lake side location allows very easy access to local attractions, the Promenade, lakeside restaurants, lake boat cruises, and the train station. The bed is very comfortable, the rooms are updated with modern conveniences, and the Internet is good. The bathtub is nice for a soak after a day of exploring. Consider upgrading to a lake view with spectacular views you can enjoy from your window and balcony seats. The views can also be appreciated from the restaurant terrace. The restaurant is also very nice. The staff is very helpful and the Montreux Riviera Card was great for free transit on buses and trains as well as discounts on many attractions (ex. 50% discount on Chillon Castle).

We recently stayed at the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic for 3 nights at the beginning of Sept. 2024. Here are the pros and cons of our stay:
PROS: 1. Our room (116) and bathroom were very clean. The A/C in our room (not the rest of the hotel) worked well. The toiletries were by L'Occitane (and affixed to the wall, lol.) There was a small mini bar that kept drinks sort of cool. There was also a safe. 2. Great Location on the main street facing the Lake. The back side of the hotel faced the Train Station which was very convenient and had a great little grocery shop/grab and go.
CONS: 1. The phone in our room didn't work so we had to personally go several floors up to the Front Desk each time we needed anything. 2. Our room came with only 1 luggage rack so I went up to the Front Desk to ask for a 2nd one. I spoke with a man in a pink suit (Manager) who agreed to send another luggage rack. It never arrived. My husband had to keep his clothes on the floor for the duration of the stay which was clearly seen by the maid who did nothing. 3. Because we were unable to call for Room Service (no working room phone), I went to the hotel's Restaurant one morning to ask for a Latte and a regular American coffee. I was given a thimble of espresso with milk foam and an espresso. When I asked for what I had ordered, I was immediately lectured by the gal at the hostess stand about coffee in Switzerland, how Americans want a cup of coffee that is 2 feet high, etc. I told her that it wasn't the size but the contents were not what we ordered. She charged me anyways. It was very unprofessional. For the rest of the visit, we just got coffee to go directly across the street at Migrolino. 4. There is no Air Conditioning in the hotel apart from the individual guest rooms. The high was 86 degrees when we were there so it was very warm in the common areas. Also, there was no light in the hallways except briefly when it could sense motion. The result was a warm haunted house effect when exiting our room... 5. There was no recognition of being Marriott Gold Elite, no welcome points, no upgrade, etc.

Dear Jemimagold, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback regarding your recent stay at the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic, and for your loyalty to Marriott as a Gold Elite member! We appreciate both your positive remarks and the constructive points you’ve raised. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the cleanliness of your room, the quality of the amenities, and our convenient location. However, I regret that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. Regarding the phone issue in your room, we encourage our guests to inform the front desk immediately, as our technical service team is available to resolve such problems promptly. We apologize for the inconvenience this caused during your stay. Concerning the luggage rack request, we regret to know that the second rack was not delivered as promised. This oversight does not reflect our usual standards of service, and we will address this with our team to prevent it from happening in the future. In terms of the coffee order, we strive to provide an authentic Swiss experience, but I regret that this led to a misunderstanding. Your experience at the restaurant is certainly not the level of service we aim to deliver, and I will ensure that this feedback is shared with our team for improvement. As for your Marriott Gold Elite membership, I would like to clarify that the 250 welcome points are automatically credited to your account upon departure. Additionally, as our hotel is a historic Belle Époque building, upgrades can be challenging, especially during high occupancy, as room sizes and availability vary. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope you will give us another opportunity to provide you with a flawless stay in the future. Warm regards, Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic team

Especially if you’ve arrived by train in Montreux, staying at this famous old timer ( now run by the Marriott chain ) is more than convenient. And it’s very comfortable & our lake- view room completely satisfactory..except for one little thing. And isn’t it true it’s the little things that can make or break what constitutes a great experience staying anywhere..the service.
They boast you have Nespresso coffee making (+Twinnings tea bags ) in your room , but there’s a catch .. they don’t provide any milk …. nor even coffee cream capsules. SO my husband ( who holds one of the coveted lifetime upper loyalty cards ) asks reception to arrange for a small jug of milk for our room, in order to make tea. He is told he must personally ask the bar(?) to provide this. Strike Number One. So he goes to the bar person & is obliged to repeat his request yet again. He’s then told he can indeed have the milk ..but he’ll be charged for it! He objected strongly repeating he’s not asking for a huge measure of milk ..just enough to make a cup of tea …& which point the person digs their heels in, insisting payment must be made. Another staffer joins the fray, offering him a loose handful of coffee cream capsules as a sop …he exclaimed surprise anyone could expect a tea lover to use coffee cream in tea ..but they just refused point blank to oblige in any way…utterly uncooperative. He complained to the person on duty at reception who witnessed this episode …because the bar is immediate to Reception…but they refused to adjudicate in anyway & fell silent.
The next morning we took a takeaway cup of milk back up to our room, unchallenged, from the breakfast buffet service.
Repeating his displeasure not having been better treated in a truly hospitable manner…all he got was another “ apology “ …they couldn’t do anything about it!
Well we won’t be returning anytime soon will we?

I asked for a room overlooking the lake and the super edge receptionist told me that it was all packed by the conference and that those rooms had been reserved for attendees. I was one of those assistants. Very noisy rooms, you couldn't stop hearing footsteps, imagine on the first floor

This hotel is magnificent: situated in a prime location with our room overlooking the lake. The room was spacious and the bed and pillows extremely comfortable. L’Ocitane shampoo, shower cream, hand wash and body lotion in the well equipped bathroom. The hotel is very clean. There is a wonderful choice for breakfast and an extensive bar menu. It was lovely sitting out on the terrace in the evening with a drink. The bar and restaurant staff were excellent, hard working and polite. The only downside and the reason for four stars was the trainee receptionist who obviously had not been trained well. Firstly she couldn’t find our booking which was made over a year ago. This made us very anxious until she called the manager who eventually sorted it out after we were asked to sit in the bar for a while. Secondly she failed to inform us when and where breakfast was served, that you had to use the door key to operate the lift, that reception was located on the 3rd floor (which we thought was the ground floor and was confusing when we entered the lift) . There was no mention of how to get to the lower level promenade. It was only after climbing about 70 steep steps that we asked another receptionist the next day who told us to follow the blue line outside the hotel which would take us to the lift. I would highly recommend this hotel; it’s in a prime location and directly opposite the station which is five minutes walk away. I must say however that there was no noise or disturbance from trains.

We booked a lake view room (note there is a parking section/road in-between the hotel and lake). The hotel has a large terrace bar for drinks or dining on the 3rd floor. The rooms are nice with tiny balcony. They supply a yoga mat in each room which is a nice touch. The gym upstairs is very small (so tiny, don't bother 😂); enjoy the beautiful paths along the lake instead. There is a nearby restaurant "Le Metrople" which I highly recommend - we went twice, food was excellent, and not too expensive considering the lakeside tables with people watching views.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic in Montreux, Switzerland, and it truly lives up to its name. This historic hotel exudes an amazing old-world charm that immediately transports you to a bygone era of elegance and sophistication.
One of the standout features of this hotel is its majestic lake views. From my room, I had an uninterrupted vista of Lake Geneva that was simply breathtaking. Waking up to the sight of the sun rising over the glistening waters of the lake is an experience I'll never forget.
The hotel's location couldn't be more convenient, especially for travelers arriving by train. It's situated right next to the train station, making it incredibly easy to access, whether you're arriving from another Swiss city or coming from abroad. This proximity to the train station also makes it an excellent base for exploring Montreux and its surrounding attractions.
Inside, the hotel exudes luxury in every detail. The rooms are beautifully appointed, with classic furnishings and all the modern amenities you could ask for. The attention to detail in maintaining the hotel's historic charm while providing modern comforts is commendable.
The staff at the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic are exceptionally accommodating and friendly. They go out of their way to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. Whether you have special requests or need local recommendations, they are always ready to assist with a warm smile.
And let's not forget the culinary experience. The hotel's restaurant serves up delicious dishes that showcase Swiss and international flavors. Dining with a view of the lake adds an extra layer of enjoyment to every meal.
In conclusion, the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic is a perfect choice for anyone visiting Montreux. Its amazing old-world charm, luxurious amenities, and unbeatable location make it a top-notch option. But what truly sets it apart is the mesmerizing view of Lake Geneva that you'll carry with you long after your stay. This hotel captures the essence of Montreux's beauty and charm, and I can't wait to return.

From it’s belle epoque exterior to its modern rooms and terrace bar it’s a great choice/price point for the area.
Room was recently renovated, well appointed, clean and a good size for European standards which offered a walkout balcony with a view of the Lac Leman (Geneva). The bathroom was well appointed, mini bar was included (soft drinks). Check in was quick and smooth.
Right across the street from the Montreux train stations which made it a great home base for our three-night stay in the area. Lake front promenade at your doorstep leads up to lake front restaurants/bars and shopping close by. A Coop and Migros are close to the hotel if provisions are required with budget friendly food options. Food and drink at the hotel are pricey but that’s the Swiss standard.
Conveniently located 20-30 min walk to Chateau Chillon (10 min by bus). 25 Min by Train to Lausanne and its attractions and restaurants, Vivey is 10 min train ride with its own lake front promenade and food outlets. Le Vaux with its wineries and views (a must) 15-20 min by train. Further afield Bern 1 hour, Geneva 1 hour, Gruyère 1 hour or so, Rochers de Naye for mountain hiking 1 hour.
I very was happy with the hotel’s location, so much to see and do. Check-in Check out was quick and easy overall I highly recommend!
