Wonderful memories from my last stay at the Monte Rosa in '91 were reinforced by a delightful recent visit. The staff were super, attending to everything we could possibly need. I missed the dinners that used to be available in the charming dining room, but...More

We stayed in a suite with two connecting rooms which was quite spacious people. I don't know if they have a single room for four people but they are very friendly so I would just contact them. We bought our passes at the lift but I believe you can buy in town and there is a discount for two days. Also we rented skis and got a discount at the ski shop because of the Monte Rosa. Zermatt had lots of shops and is a very bustling town.
FYI: I also really enjoyed staying in another town in the French speaking part called Champex, which was far less expensive. You can ski there and also take a short shuttle to the larger resort of Verbier. There is a nice boutique hotel called the Mont Lac which rooms and apartments that comfortably sleep 4. There are good restaurants and my favorite Swiss shop called "Vachement Suisse."
