Excellent hotel overlooking Lake Lugano. Walking distance to the city center, restaurants, shops, and cafes. Stunning views of the lake, mountains, and surrounding towns. I got room number 251 in the left wing of the hotel. Large rooms, coffee maker, spacious shower, and amazing views from the balcony !!!! Possibility to have a continental breakfast in the room or breakfast at the hotel. The meal is not so rich and also for an omelette they asked me to pay. Sitting in a beautiful hall or on the balcony of the dining room overlooking the lake. Good service of the hotel staff. Worth and definitely recommended

Excellent hotel, Great views, great service. Parking difficult and rooms need some updating. Great location and friendly, flexible staff. Good breakfast. Issue issue is price vs value. Does not equate. Nowhere near.

Stayed for a few nights as a family in August. Positives: + Complimentary private minivan to/from the train station, driver waiting with a board. + Unbeatable view, must stay in a room with a view of the lake + Nice location in town, a nice 10minute walk along the promenade to hit the main town, close enough for walking distance but far enough that its quiet + Seamless check in, we arrived 4 hours before check in but the very helpful young man at check in found us a room + Overall good service Negatives: I should say that the negatives are not so bad but when you are accustomed to 5* and paying 5* prices you notice many things. One point which is 'neutral' is that the decor of the rooms may not be to everyones tastes. Its a very old hotel and has kept a lot of its old charm. Some people, including myself think its quite nice, but others may find it very off putting. I would still say that the rooms are in need of a little bit of touching up. Perhaps new mirrors, and a fresh rendering of walls and a new coat of paint. - I noticed that a couple of long hairs from the previous guest (or perhaps the cleaner) were still in the bath tub - Still some bits of dust around the edges of the room, not a thorough cleaning - Food portions were a little small for the price (although were tasty) - Breakfast options were adequate, but would be nice to have eggs cooked to order without an extra charge. - Upon check out the lady at the counter while dealing with me was actually looking elsewhere and focussing on another conversation that was happening in the lobby. As stated, the location is good, and the service is overall very good. But for the price, and for the customer who is used to 5* hotels all across the world i would say that this hotel falls a little short compared to its peer group. Some friendly advice to non european guests based on conversations I overheard: I would advise any potential guests from outside Europe to be aware of differences to expect at European hotels. I overheard guests from the middle east and asia at breakfast complaining to staff about the birds on an outdoor terrace, asking for a caramel macchiato with cream on top, and many other equally frivolous things. Just a friendly reminder to those guests to manage their expectations. In Europe, nature is not considered to be 'dirty', and to be prepared to adjust your coffee order, its not Starbucks. I must also say, its highly unusual these days for a hotel representative or even the GM himself not to respond to reviews on tripadvisor. Mr Rossi, your customers wish for you to address their feedback.

The hotel is very average, starting from not very friendly reception, bit old look interiors, laud and old elevators from 70 ties (which we could hear from our room from 6 in the morning). Be aware that hotel on the main pictures might not be the place where you will be staying. Next to the beautiful building there is an ugly block, which they don't show on the photos, it's still a part of the hotel. So you might be disappointed that the pretty building where you thought will be staying is actually next door. A small tip: avoid the hotel restaurant La Veranda.

We spent 7 nights in a splendid deluxe exec room with lake view and terrace, in the historical building (the "modern" one looks pretty ugly from outside). The room was big enough and I could comfortably do my morning yoga facing the lake. The bed was incredibly comfy and the furnitures and spaces were well organized and of course in style. Staff was helpful, attentive and friendly. We had 3 times room service, which was OK and well displayed. Breakfast was also nice and plentiful, but it's much more pleasant and stylish when taken on the terrace facing the lake. The swimming pool is not very big, but well managed. We never failed to find a sun lounger. The only problem is as always the other guests, the ones who are noisy, jump into water or forget to have a shower before. The location of the hotel is a plus : not far away from every useful starting point for tours (bus, train, boat, ...) and close from shopping area and restaurants. Lugano is a pretty city, well organized, with an italien feel, which was so welcomed when you don't have the possibility to get out of Switzerland. I was amazed to find out that there is so much to do. We spent a week, but we could have stayed longer. We had a wonderful time there.
