Excellent location, a few minutes walk from the lakeside and ten minutes walk into the town centre. Very friendly staff and an excellent no-frills hotel, perfect for our requirements. No dedicated parking but easy to find an on-street parking spot nearby in a safe and quiet area. The hotel provided a parking card that could be displayed within the car to avoid fees. Would highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel is located on a side street close to the main drag near central Neuchatel. The young reception staff were all very friendly and helpful (special kudos to Gary), and spoke good English. Some of the rooms have been renovated, and the ones to the back are quieter, so ask what is available if a newer or quiet room is required. The rooms facing the street however, even the renovated ones, are quite loud on the weekends. There is a portable air conditioner in each room, however they are also loud. I could imagine it gets quite warm in the rooms in the summer, at least the ones facing west. There are a coffee/tea machine (no milk) and earplugs but no safe or minibar in the rooms. I found the mattress to be very comfortable. There is no restaurant however a bar next door serves, I think, some food. The breakfast is basic but certainly sufficient. You can walk to the center of the city in about ten minutes and to the main harbor in about seven minutes. There are no private parking spaces however you can get a free pass to either park on the nearby blue zones or public parking lot about five minutes away by foot. Spaces fill up on weekends, however, so you may have to cruise around looking for one.…
The hotel is located in a beautiful area of Neuchâtel close to the lake. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. I liked my room, which was relatively big and very clean. Breakfast offered of wide variety of food. On the less positive side, it was noisy (noise from the street, plumbing noise and noise from the kitchen my room being opposite).
Just staid there again as the hotel is located conveniently for me. Room size is ok but my room was painted not too long ago and therefore it smelled heavily of fresh paint. Could not really have the windows open as outside area is pretty loud with people smoking in front of the restaurant/hotel etc. Also the breakfast did not impress me too much. A practical place but not overly fancy.
Very functional hotel, nicely located just outside the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Room was spacious, matresses were comfy. Interior court facing room and we had no noise whatsoever. Building is not new and it’s not luxurious, but price is very modest (especially in Swiss terms). Overall 4 stars. As we had to get up early each morning prior to breakfast, staff went out of their depth to give us a breakfast package that was covering just everything: very kind of them (and unexpectedly flexible). That moves it to 5 stars, as that’s what hospitality should be about. Whenever in Neuchatel, this will be my place to stay.
Service in this hotel was really good and polite. Rooms clean (a bit cold) and nicely decorated. Breakfast worth the money. In the morning we were able to hear peoples discussions on the corridor clearly to our room - so based on our experience, the rooms were not at all soundproofed.
great experience here - good size room with massive en suite. Good facilities in room and very friendly staff. very conveniently located less than 5 mins from the centre and less than 5 mins from the station via the funicular (although that is closed for maintenance until april but easy to get to using a bus from the station and walking fo r5 mins)
The hotels I’ve stayed in over the years have served a purpose, and this hotel does exactly that serves a purpose. You get what you pay for. It’s clean very friendly staff, the breakfast is really a good choice. The area as you can see by the pictures, is really great to look at. All the pics are literally 5min walk in either direction. So well worth a visit. I originally picked a single room and believe me if I was a tiny little man then fine, but I’m not, so I had to change to a double and went on the 6th floor room 604. You have a sky light, watch your head as the celling is low. Small bathroom and a really comfy bed. The only problem with that room is that, across the hall is the cleaners closet and as they are very friendly nice people, if you are like me and like to chill on one day of your vacation, around 4:30pm they get together and talk and laugh loudly. I’m not really moaning about the getting together having a laugh after a hard days work but, at least close the door so I can’t listen to it. They are doing construction (Oct 20I8) think they are doing the restaurant next to it which will be interesting , there is no disturbances with noise. Looking around the area there isn’t much choice for quick food. 1hr from Geneva on the train to come see the lake. Overall worth a stay.…
We stayed in the Hotel Des Arts last week whilst visiting our son who lives in beautiful Neuchatel. The hotel is wonderfully situated a short walk to the old town and lake and there is a nearby funicular to take you to and from the railway station. Be warned the roads in Neuchatel are very steep! You get a Tourist Card on arrival which is gives free local travel and free entrance to a huge number of museums and other days out which was invaluable. The hotel itself offers everything you need for your stay and is very reasonably priced compared with its competitors. Comfortable beds, fluffy towels, toiletries, tissues, hair dryer and a coffee machine. The shower is the most powerful I have ever experienced in a hotel. We had a room with a balcony and a view of the lake. There isn't a bar but you can buy drinks and snacks at reception and the breakfast room is lovely with a huge choice of cereals, cold meats and cheeses, breads, pancakes and eggs plus tea, coffee and juices. Reception is open 24 hours with very courteous and helpful staff. Their restaurant isn't open yet but if you love cheese fondue you must go to la Taverne Neuchâteloise just down the road into town - wonderful and great pancakes at Crêperie du château at the bottom of the road leading to the Chateau. Neuchatel is absolutely beautiful with lovely nearby walks or days out across lake Luzern to the mountains. Transport is cheap as long as you buy saver tickets on the SBB.ch app. We will definitely return to Hotel des Arts on our next visit. Thank you…
Positive points : Good location near Neuchatel center, a public park is abroad. Parking ticketing not needed Hotel offers park card Bathroom suffisant, not from first "fresh" will need an upgrade and renoval after all we are on a 3 stars level Bed confortable not to smooth and not to hard just what needed for a good resting sleep. Heating system operational so easy to warm up room. Reception 24/24h that's a plus. Friendly too Wifi connection Ok and in free access. Negative points : noise and daylight threw door. The doors need to be checked because too many daylight is coming threw so do coridor light. At morning you can hear the other rooms beeing left ,and start of room cleaning so silence indicator sheet on door is unefficient. Globally quote and standard of quality and price are in line with that category of hotel. Business stay ok…
