The AMERON Luzern Hotel Flora garners attention for its prime location near major attractions and the train station, a detail guests consistently appreciate. While the hotel's atmosphere strikes a unique but occasionally outdated chord, its rooms, though clean and cozy, are often critiqued for being small and in need of an update. The staff's friendliness is a highlight, yet some reviewers have had mixed experiences with service responsiveness. Travelers praise the complimentary minibar and overall cleanliness, but the value proposition is contested due to high rates and additional costs.

The hotel staff were courteous, professional, and very helpful. We stayed in one of the 6th floor rooms with a balcony and great view of Pilatus. The rooms are a little small by American standards but well furnished. The refrigerator was stocked with soda, wine (small bottles), etc. which is replaced daily at no extra charge. The coffee maker is supplied with numerous coffees and works well. The bathroom is clean and nicely set up. The bath has a half glass shield and handheld shower head. The water was a good flow and easily adjusted. I have an issue with this type of shower but I expect Europeans are quite acquainted with it. Stepping out of the bath/shower takes care as the drop is probably 6”.
One of the most delightful surprises was how good the attached restaurant (Bacio) was. We were a little hesitant to sign up for breakfasts in advance as some of the past reviews were marginal. However, the breakfast buffet was the BEST we have ever experienced. The variety of the buffet was huge; from just made croissants (excellent!) to eggs, sausage, bacon, various fresh fruit, numerous cereals, cheeses, buns of all types, huge selection of coffees, and more. The items were ready at the opening at 7 am and continually replenished throughout the morning. A very professionally managed restaurant. Well worth the price.
Another major consideration for us was the proximity to the trains, boats on the waterfront, and Chapel bridge and Reuss river as my wife has difficulty walking. All of the above were no more than a block from the Ameron. If you travel exclusively by train, as we did for the first time, the hotel’s location couldn’t be better.

Stayed for 3 nights, friendly helpful staff, if you need anything just ask them! I was looking for hot water and asked if they could give me some…got a kettle for the room!

Location is perfect! Could not be better for train station, chapel bridge, lake ferries and lots of good places to eat! Make walking and exploring super easy.

Didn’t eat in the hotel so can’t comment on food but from what I saw looked lovely.

Only reason not a 5 star review is because no teabags were provided in room, they cater only for coffee drinkers and secondly the shower head attachment was just plain odd….did not tilt to have water ‘shower’ you, instead it jetted AT you! Couldn’t figure that one out lol

Otherwise the room was small but perfectly suited to us and very grateful for excellent aircon as it was 31 degrees when we stayed! Also free water in room and available in reception - restaurants and bars charge for tap water in Switzerland.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are thrilled to hear that our staff was friendly and helpful, and that you found the location of our hotel ideal for exploring the city. We’re glad the kettle made your stay more comfortable and that the air conditioning provided relief during the warm weather. We apologize for the inconvenience regarding the lack of tea bags and the unusual shower head. We appreciate your feedback and will look into these issues to enhance our guests' experience. It’s also great to know that the free water in the room and reception was a helpful touch during your stay. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with an even better experience. Best regards, Michael and the AMERON Flora Team.

Do not hesitate to book this hotel! My husband and I traveled to multiple cities in Switzerland and this was our home base for a 3-night stay in Lucerne. We were SO pleased with our choice. First of all, for US/Canadian travelers looking for real air conditioning, you may be surprised that many hotels don't meet North American standards. The Ameron Luzern air conditioning was legit! It was unusually hot during our stay and the hotel room was wonderfully cool all the time. The king room with a partial Pilatus view was a little cozy, but perfectly acceptable. The mattress and linens were great, the shower was roomy with plenty of hot water and the hotel was very quiet. Another great perk was the mini bar that was refreshed daily with complimentary beer, wine, sodas and juice. What a nice perk!

We didn't purchase the breakfasts, opting instead to eat on the go for our daily excursions. We did eat at the attached restaurant for dinner one evening and it was quite good.

Overall, the staff, was fantastic. The front desk folks were efficient, pleasant and helpful. And, the location was amazing. We took public transit and easily reached the train station and bus stops from this hotel. We liked that the front entrance was off of a quiet side street, yet just steps away from the lake, the Chapel Bridge and the old town. We loved this hotel!

We stayed in room 423 a comfort room which is quite compact and a tight squeeze for 3 people and 2 large suitcases and a small suitcase. It is fairly expensive for what you get but being a huge tourist city that is to be expected. However we feel you are paying for the location which can’t be beaten by other hotels. It’s quiet but only a few steps from chapel bridge and a few minutes walk to the station.

The bathroom is functional, with a shower over the tub which is quite high and can pose a safety issue for elderly and young guests. The fan in the bathroom does a very poor job of extracting the steam so after a shower the bathroo can feel like a sauna. Power outlet in Bathroom was not working.

House keeping is inconsistent as we had to ask for 3 face towels as this was not replaced for 2 days. In the 6 nights we stayed our bedsheets, pillow cases etc were not changed. Perhaps you need to stay longer?

Checkin was functional, neither warm or welcoming despite there not being anyone in the hotel lobby. We were only told about a discounted breakfast rate of 25chf compared to 28chf if we booked the breakfast at checkin. You are provided with a breakfast card that you sometime present and sometime you don’t as you enter the restaurant.

The breakfast room can be busy especially if there is a tour bus staying in the hotel.
Breakfast spread was the same for the 6 mornings we had it. There was no variety at all. It would have been nice to have one dish that was changed every day. e.g. roasted veggies one day, baked tomatoes the next etc.

Scrambled eggs were like a cake. Other brekafast items included, bacon, egg sunny side up, scrambled eggs, baked beans (which were hard and undercooked on some mornings), cold meat, cereal, pasties, carrot and lemon cake, tea selection, raw ginger, lemon and mint. We loved the fresh ginger which we added to our teas.
But fresh fruit like banana.

The minibar was free with 2 cokes, an orange juice and 2 wines and was replenished daily which was great.

The lack of a kettle in the room is a sore point since you can’t really make tea from the Nespresso coffee maker provided.

Overall we loved the location. If only the hotel had bigger rooms and provided more variety for breakfast.

The hotel is in a great location to explore the city, particularly the old town, being within walking distance of the river.
Our room (No 229), was however very noisy, with external noise to the hotel, which began as early as 6am. The hotel were great when we notified them of this and we were great with offers for a resolution.
My stay was in a basic room, and I found the rooms to be a bit dated, especially compared to some of the higher priced rooms that appear on their website. Consider this when booking.

We recently stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. I cannot understand how this is rated as a 4* hotel. I’ll start with the good points, the hotel is centrally located, available parking, and water in the lobby. The rest of the review is going to be my honest opinion in the hope of helping others in their decision making. We booked a “premium” room directly on their website and arrived early for check-in. When we returned later that day, we were given Room 614 which included a view of the inside courtyard where there is currently ongoing construction. This room is also a connected room which resulted in additional noise that disturbed our stay. When I pointed this out to management early in our stay, they basically said sorry for the inconvenience but made no overture of a free breakfast or discount on the room. The maid service also left our door open one day and the room was small and difficult to maneuver around. The bathtub height was one I have never encountered before and most likely will never again but made it difficult to get in and out of safely. We are new to traveling to Europe and our used to smaller hotel rooms. We have stayed in 8 hotels over the past 3 years and this is the only one we would not heartily recommend. I hope this information helps inform future potential guests.

Thank you for your detailed feedback. We genuinely regret that your recent stay did not meet your expectations and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We are glad you found our central location, parking availability, and lobby amenities to be positive aspects of your stay. As a city hotel, we understand that external factors like nearby construction can impact the guest experience. Unfortunately, such disruptions are beyond our control. However, we strive to mitigate their effects as much as possible and appreciate your understanding in this matter. We will review this situation with our team to address any deficiencies and improve our guest experience. The room size and bathtub height are noted points, and we understand they might not have met your comfort standards. We will take your comments into account as we review our room configurations and amenities. We value your feedback as it helps us enhance our services and facilities. While we are disappointed that your stay did not align with your past experiences, we hope you might consider giving us another chance to offer a more satisfactory stay in the future. Best regards, Michael and the AMERON Flora Team.

We stayed in the Ameron Flora as part of our honeymoon, in a classic room. The room was quite small, I would say the smallest room we stayed in on our trip, and we couldn't seem to reserve a double bed, but it was well decorated and cosy. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was lovely, the toiletries smelled amazing. There was also complimentary sparkling water and chocolates which was a nice touch. The view from the window wasn't great so we just kept the curtains shut most of the time.

The hotel was in a fantastic location, not far from the train station and a short walk down to the Chapel Bridge. I would definitely stay in this area again. There was a fantastic restaurant downstairs and although we decided not to pay the extra for breakfast, we did eat dinner there one night and the food was really delicious.

Finally, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had totally forgot that Swiss plugs are different to Germany, our previous location, and the reception desk was able to provide us with one late at night when we arrived. I would definitely recommend but next time I think I would book a deluxe room for a bit more space.

My recent stay at your Pension was unfortunately disappointing compared to the expectations I had for the Award paid. Although the location is ideal and the staff is generally friendly, the Value for Award leaves much to be desired.

First of all, the comfort room I booked did not correspond at all to the photos presented on the website. It was smaller and darker, with worn furniture and an old decoration. For a rate of CHF 450/night, I expected a modern, clean and well maintained room, which was not the case. We quickly reported the very unpleasant sewage smells as soon as we entered the room. The only solution we had to find was to keep the window open all the time.
In short, the Pension has high rates but does not offer the services that go with it. Personally, I would not recommend this Pension, we had the Impression that the AI was responding to our complaints without considering them...

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, and was the first stop of our 10 day trip to Switzerland. We arrived in the morning after a long flight, and drive from Zurich. As expected, the rooms were not ready. There is a small bathroom in the lower level of the hotel, where we changed, and kept our bags with the front desk staff.

The location of this hotel is the best part. Its literally a 2-minute walk to the famous Chapel Bridge. There are many restaurants around the area as well, including a McDonalds and Starbucks right around the corner. We had a car, and there was a parking garage right next to the hotel.

The room was tiny, as expected. They had put a twin bed on the side for our child. The bathroom was small too, but manageable. The AC was there, but not powerful at all. The two days we were there were really hot. And we, Americans are used to the AC being really strong :)

The front desk staff was quite friendly, and even offered as umbrellas on one of the days when it rained. The area is quite busy and safe. There is a restaurant on property with decent food. I realized later that if you ask for water, they automatically bring you bottled water and the cost is quite high. But if you just ask for tap water, its free. Wish they made it clear before we spent so much money on just water.

Overall, this hotel is very convenient and great for your stay in Lucerne. I would highly recommend it.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at AMERON Luzern and for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are delighted to hear that you found our location convenient and enjoyed the proximity to the Chapel Bridge and other local attractions. It is wonderful to know that our front desk staff made a positive impression during your stay, and we are pleased that their friendly service. Regarding your observation about the water service in our restaurant, we would like to take this opportunity to explain that we support the initiative "Water for Water" (WfW). We sell bottled water for a good cause, emphasizing the importance of water as a precious resource that is not accessible to everyone. The proceeds from the sale of bottled water go towards providing clean drinking water to communities in need through WfW. We apologize for any confusion and will ensure that our staff clarifies the options of bottled versus tap water to our guests in the future. Thank you for your recommendation. We are glad to have been part of your Swiss adventure and hope to welcome you back to AMERON Luzern soon. Best regards, Jessica and Team

First, this is my 3rd time in this hotel since 1992. There are many cool hotels in Lucerne. If you want a peaceful opportunity to rest or sleep, quantum variety of breakfast food, very comfortable rooms , hot drinks or cold, as many like awakening and drinking coffee or tea, a wonderful, steller staff and the best loction a 1/2 block from the in the medieval Old Town, wooden bridge as it passes the impressive Water Tower and considered to be Europe's oldest covered bridge, you are in the perfect location!
On the other side of the bridge is the very active side of Lucerne with shops, sculptures, a plethora of restaurants and activity from morning until late nightThe famous sculptured lion in the massive rock structure is my favorite monument in the world. When you depart the Ameron Luzern Hotel Flora, it takes 5 minutes to walk to the bridge and crossing time varies because every step brings you to a different pictoral view in any and all directions. This is my favorite Swiss City and favorite hotel for every conceivable reason.
