Cloud 9 Morning rain, No cause for disdain Why, you proclaim? The sun, still tucked away at 14 past 8. The bright side is easy to locate It doubles as Alpine snowfall To make the skiing so great! Ok it's a poem, and this is a review, so I'll get to the point. Der Teufelhof- and its Art Hotel specifically...

We stayed one night in this hotel. I liked the feel of the hotel, old on the outside and a sleek white, a bit clinical, modern room with a small bathroom inside. The staff was very friendly and professional. Easy access for a visit of the old town. Breakfast was correct though not elaborate. One remark, the laminate flooring in...

We stayed here for 1 night and had such an amazing surprise when we were arrived at our room which was the Art room number 3. The room was adorned with art everywhere (as seen in my pictures) and it was so interesting. It was such a unique experience. There were even glow in the dark patches all over the...

Great choice in Basel. In a quiet area with short walk to old town - really just out the back door and down the alley! The hotel was well kept and Interesting, with the art. The people at the hotel were wonderful, and breakfast was great. I recommend this hotel to anyone travelling on holiday or business.

Room appeared to be brand, spanking new with all the conveniences and lots of extras including an excellent coffee machine and warmed towels. The inn itself is a little museum with an archaeological dig underneath. Charming coffee shop and and restaurant that we were only able to take advantage of for breakfast. Located in center of historic district so everything...

If you want to avoid the usual chains, "Der Teufelhof" might be a good choice for you: very good location to explore the old town and Basel in general. The hotel features individually designed artist’s rooms in the older building, which are very nice and worth the price. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Check out the two restaurants, if...

Everything was superb from the approach to the hotel, the receptionist so pleasant and helpful. The room was great with free water and nuts to welcome. Lovely comfortable double bed. Great business desk to work at. Opening windows for fresh air not onto busy main road. Trams nearby but they finish at night. Breakfast superb. All staff so nice

We stayed for one night prior to our Rhine River cruise. The location was very convenient to old down (just out the rear entrance), and just a short bus ride and walk from the train station. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and was used to working with river cruise travelers. When we were ready to depart for the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Der Teufelhof Basel, situated in the old town, with all sights and museums within walking distance or easy to reach by public transport, is a unique hotel experience with 33 stylish rooms. The hotel is classified as design and lifestyle as well as unique hotel. The rooms are either in the historic building, we call Art hotel, or in the more modern part in the Gallery Hotel. The Art Hotel has eight rooms and a suite. Each of them is made a work of art to live in. Especially business people who travel a lot enjoy staying in rooms which are not like the hotel rooms they know from their visits throughout the world. The Gallery Hotel's rooms and halls are a large exhibition area for one artist who can present his works for a particular period. We have chosen three designers for the rooms' furniture. The Gallery Hotel has twenty rooms, each different in size, three suites and a junior suite. The hotel comprises further the restaurant Atelier, the fine dining restaurant Bel Etage, the Teufelhof Bar, the wine shop «Falstaff», an own theater and the archaeological cellar. ... more   less
