What a great little hotel. It's a short walk to the Porta Romana, one of the gates into the walled town. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was spotlessly clean. Our room was large and airy, with a great view of the valley below. I couldn't stop taking photographs of this view - the light was different...

This is our 2nd stay at the Hotel Santa Caterina in Siena - and it stands firm as my husband and my favorite hotel. 2 years ago I read on this website about room 19 - and it was great advice. It is one of the only rooms with a balcony - and the only one that overlooks the Tuscan...

Of the 3 hotels we stayed in Italy, this was the most disappointing. The location isnt close to anything. Both day and night staff at the front desk was rude and not helpful, and our room was uncomfortable and noisy.

We stayed in Siena for 3 nights and loved this hotel. I am shocked to hear people complain about the size of the room because it was actually the largest room my husband and I had! We spent 120-150 Euros per night on rooms during our 2 weeks and spent 140 Euros on this room and felt it was one...

We stayed in Siena for only one night on our way from Tuscany to Rome. If you can maneuver your way around the walled city - which is a challenge in itself! - and find your way to this adorable family run hotel, you won't be disappointed. Although the rooms are extremely basic and very tiny, the location is superb....

We stayed in a double room at Santa Caterina for two nights in February 2008. It was reasonably priced at 85 euros a night, which included breakfast. We didn't need parking, but it's available for 15 euros per night. The staff were always friendly and polite, and breakfast was good (a few cereal choices, cakes, various pastries, yoghurt, cheese etc)....

very nice hotel only a 15-minute walk from central Siena; lovely breakfast room (terrace would be great in summer); extremely pleasant staff let us have a salami/cheese/wine "picnic" on the table in the common room and were accommodating in every way; room itself only average, but clean and reasonably good value (given the strength of the Euro)

My wife and I stayed one night at Hotel Santa Caterina near the end of our stay in Cinque Terre and Tuscany. We wanted a hotel in Siena within walking distance of Il Campo, so we could turn in our rental car, do Siena on foot, then have easy train connections to Milan for our flight home. The Santa Caterina...

A lovely boutique hotel with very friendly staff where we had the pleasure of staying for only one night. Our room was over two levels and therefore felt large. We had a lovely view from our window. Breakfast buffet was good and the cappuccino was excellent. The lady that looks after you at breakfast is very friendly. We were not...

From the moment we arrived at this small hotel (more like a BB), the staff was very nice and helpful. My Italian just ok, well, here they speak English and seem to treat everyone staying in their hotel with professionalism. They set up a breakfast buffet that's just full of everything (like fresh crecents, fruit) and then they ask you...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Santa Caterina Hotel in Siena offers more than a bed and a breakfast service. Housed in a renovated 18th-century patrician villa, it is a small and cosy hotel lying just a few metres from Porta Romana (Roman Gate), one of the medieval accesses to the town centre of Siena. If you are looking among all the hotels in Tuscany - and specifically among the hotels in Siena - for the one that can serve you both as a base for daily excursions and as a comfortable pied-à-terre within the city limits, our 22-room facility will meet your needs. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms, direct telephone, TV Sat, minibar, air conditioning, wireless Internet access, and are furnished, as the lounge is, in the typical old Tuscan style.Providing guests with the cheerfulness and cosiness of a typical Siena’s bed and breakfast, Santa Caterina guarantees much more. The wide and luxuriant garden with its veranda where breakfast is served can offer you what other Siena hotels cannot, that is, a view over the splendid Siena landscapes that will paint before your eyes every morning unexpected, changing colour shades among hilly lines. The refined but homely atmosphere and its privileged location, make this hotel the ideal place for a romantic and pleasant stay in the land locals love to call the old-fashioned way, "Terra di Siena", the land of Siena in Italy's heart.
