I just returned from a lovely weekend spent at the bed & breakfast Locanda La Mandrogola located within the city’s medieval walls. Lovingly decorated, the four 2nd floor rooms are comfortable and inviting. Mine featured a queen size bed, a large closet (with 2 extra pillows, sufficient hangers and a dry-cleaning bag) as well as a modern bathroom and overlooked...

We went to this restaurant on recommendation of the owner of the villa we rented. She lives in San Gimignano and gave us names of a few places to try. This was one. We went without a reservation, and we were only able to dine inside. The food was good, but the service was excessively slow - 30 minutes for...

We had a very nice stay at this family run hotel! This place is beautifully decorated and has big and comfortable rooms with an amazing roof balcony with a panoramic view of the area. Although the hotel situated inside the ZTL and the old city they managed to help us with a dedicated parking space not far from the hotel,...

The hotel is located inside the city walls but in a quiet location. This is a family run hotel and the hosts are very pleasant. We stayed in the Rosa room which is decorated in a feminine, vintage style with a modern bathroom. The views from the room are stunning with the setting sun shining through the window in the...

This is a delightful restaurant with al fresco dining. We visited in July, when its lush patio was a beautiful setting that perfectly complemented the summer menu. It's off the beaten path and well worth the walk. I had the duck breast “in traditional recipe,” which turned out to be skinless duck rounds containing seasoned vegetables, served on a bed...

A wee bit off the main tourist route but worth searching for. We stopped for lunch (stumbled across it by chance). It was nice and quite, up a few steps from the little street its on. Staff were very attentive, food was well prepared and beautifully presented. Not too expensive, worth seeking out!

Great location in the centre of town, so you can duck back for a rest from sightseeing and inclines, yet set back a few streets so you lookout over the Tuscan landscapes. The room had everything you needed and expected of a B&B, a cosy room with compact bed size, with somewhat of a romantic Tuscan decor, which gave it...

Great shady spot for lunch on a hot day. Service was charming and efficient and food was good. We had Tuscan beans and Caprese salad which were both much better than expected (and very reasonably priced). Pasta to follow was so filling we probably only needed one portion between two. Would recommend for a charming lunch.

La Mandragola is a delightful bed and breakfast with four bedrooms. Our group used all of the rooms, which are on the same floor but we could not hear each other and it felt very private. Breakfast was delicious and we were provided with our choice of coffee each morning. Soy milk was sourced on request. The owner/manager and his...

My wife and I just returned from a 10 day superb holiday staying in San Gimingnano at Locanda da Mandragola for the third time. Location is central but on a quite back street metres away from the main attractions. As always excellent accommodation and service from Alessandra, Nicola, Andrea and their team who make you feel most welcome. The surprise...
