We were boiling in Siena, had one day left of our holiday and were flying from Pisa …and thank god had a brain wave to find a pool within 30 mins of Pisa …this was the perfect last day. It’s a grand, fabulous old villa with lots of original features and decor. The bedrooms feel a bit dated rather than vintage but if they updated the bed linen it would look much better. But still a good nights sleep as great air con! The bathrooms have been updated and have good powerful showers. The lunch options are a bit limited but dinner is extremely nice and on the terrace so a great setting. The pool is the star of the show - it’s large and have plenty of sunbeds and lots of shade options. Highly recommended

We love staying at the Villa La Principessa. From the moment you drive up to the front door, you feel welcomed into a peaceful and elegant property. We have stayed there for many years (actually since 1987) and it is always great. The rooms are lovely, the grounds are beautiful, and the swimming pool is welcome in the summer. Sylvia Ferrari has always made us feel special when we arrive. The restaurant serves delicious food for dinner as well as a comprehensive breakfast. Fabulous spot.

If then hotel is anything like as good as the customer service then this is going to be one of the best. In many, many years of dealing with hotels the efficiency shown in dealing with requests made was professional in the extreme. We look forward to our stay

We had an unexpectedly large room, there is an EV charging station, our dog was welcome, the hotel is in a wonderful setting, everything was fine. We did not eat at the hotel since we arrived rather late. Would probably have preferred a self-service breakfast buffet, but it was excellent. A prior review complained about the silence in the hotel; what a relief not to have Musac!! Charming and with an agreeable old-fashined feel.

We found the hotel in the guide Rivages "Charming hotels in Italy" and it has truly its charm, style and character. The personnel was very nice, as well at the reception as at the swimming pool where the lady was running around all the time to provide its guests with the best quality of service. The rooms are cosy and nicely decorated. We had first a room in the annex which was very nice and thereafter a suite in the main building with an extra bed, and very stylish. The only pity is that the restaurant does not serve hot dishes in the evening and it is better to go out. The price is very reasonable.

Stayed just one night, en route. Last minute booking. I'm always looking for hidden gem hotels. And this is one! Grand, old villa with a fabulous swimming pool and gardens. Clean, recently renovated room with a huge bathroom. Quiet and stately but unpretentious. Reasonably priced. Just outside Lucca, which means you're not staying in the hubbub but it's very nearby. Exceedingly nice staff, especially Sylvia who treated us like royalty. She is knowledgeable about the villa's history, which is fascinating. Apparently, Napolean's sister owned the villa back in the 19th-century. Highly recommend this hotel.

Villa between Lucca and Pisa. The night we stayed there were 2 bus tours there. We were told that we would not be able to eat in the dining room because the tours took up the whole hotel. Same thing at breakfast, dominated by tour groups. Rooms are tired and very sparsely furnished. We had a suite and it was a waste of money. One empty room with an elevated bed. Front desk staff was rather rude as well. Would definitely not stay here again.

This is definitely a hidden gem off of the busy highway. The staff is excellent and the brkfst and dinners have been exceptional. Lunch was usually in the country side or small villas. Loved the location. WiFi is very slow or limiting but then that is why we are here ( to be off of the grid).

Driving through the gates of this villa will take your breath away. We arrived early so they graciously stored our luggage until our rooms were ready. The grounds of this villa are spectacular and the pool was perfect for a relaxing afternoon. Our rooms were clean and spacious with large windows that overlooked the grounds. The staff was wonderful, booking a dinner reservation for us at a local trattoria 5 minutes down the road.
