I stayed for the third time with my family in this little jewel inside the mediaeval walls of Lucca. Each time I met a friendly an competent accommodation at a reasonable price in a fantastic and highly tasteful decorated rooms partially with frescoes!! A full recommendation!
Very much in the old part of Lucca, near the important sites, however quiet as it is in a narrow alley. The room was small (especially the toilet) but comfortable, though may not suit those who are claustrophobic. The staff are very nice. You might hear Claudia doing a Whitney Houston impersonation. We were cordially invited to a coffee when we were leaving. Lucca is wonderful place to walk around. Although expensive due to the touristic presence, the old sights are really marvellous.
Great hotel! The staff are all wonderful - so friendly and real “people people”. They were so helpful when had issues getting into the car park ( due to a concert, not a fault of the hotel), and sorted it for us. Quirky hotel. Love the fun pictures and bits around. Love the fact it was an old brothel. Photos make it look tired but the rooms are much better in real life.
First time in Lucca and we loved it... and I completely agree with the other reviewers who said that this charming hotel is the perfect home base! Our "Family Room" for four was spacious, clean, great bathroom, and so pretty! Breakfast buffet was wonderful and can be eaten at cute tables inside or outside on a small terrace in the front of the hotel. Staff was so friendly and helpful, and the hotel is walkable to everything you'd want to do while in Lucca (and it's only a 5-minute walk from the train station). Opera concerts are performed nightly from 7-8pm at a church very close to the hotel, so that was a nice thing to do one night before dinner while you're in town. I hope to return to Lucca, and if so, I would definitely want to stay at the San Martino again.
Suberb Hotel with a family feel, the staff are very friendly and customer focused. If you want to feel at home wether at breakfast or having aperativo's in the cosy garden area, this is the place for you. Bedrooms clean and comfortable, occasionally a little noise from the neighbours but you are in a bustling old city with narrow streets. Lucca is a lovely city, walk the walls, enjoy the restaurants and the friendly inhabitants. The Albergo San Martino is 10/15 minutes from the station. A great little find, visit and enjoy.
Excellent little hotel in Lucca. Very handy for the station and the city centre. Staff were simply brilliant, couldn't do enough for you. Small terrace outisde for drinks or breakfast, which is excellent as well. Rooms aren't big but they are perfectly adequate with AC and large comfortable beds. Very clean and not too expensive for the area. Highly recommended
The location is very nice, near the best places in Lucca and also close enough to the walls. The outdoors and indoors are beautifully decorated. But the positives end there! We stayed in a very small room with the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. Two single beds pushed together, only two really thin pillows that have me back and neck pain, and a tiny blanket. No extra towels, blankets or pillows anywhere to be found. We spent 155 euros for one night with no breakfast and it felt like such a rip off. Sorry but never again.
We enjoyed two nights at the Albergo San Martino, on our first visit to Lucca. Arriving with a car was easy and secure parking was a perk! Kind and helpful service from all. A quiet, clean and spacious room. The hotel is located just a short walk from all the sites in Lucca and near the walls for a wonderful walk at sunset. And reasonably priced. Thanks to all at the San Martino for giving us a memorable stay in Lucca. We hope to visit again!
Lovely hotel in a great location in Lucca. Tucked away in a quiet street. Our room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The staff were lovely and let us store our luggage for the day after check out which was greatly appreciated. Would love to stay again in future.
Tucked away in a quiet but convenient location close to both the train station and the center of town, Albergo San Martino is the perfect base for a stay in Lucca. We were there four nights, would definitely stay there again, and would highly recommend it to any friends planning a Lucca visit. (We also loved Lucca, where we had not been before!) The staff of the hotel, especially Claudia, offered excellent suggestions for places to eat, wine bars, and points of interest. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the service prompt, professional and friendly. Our room was well-appointed and the bathroom was modern and spotlessly clean. Best of all, the “tucked away” location meant silence at night! We also were never bothered by the sounds of plumbing or other noise so common in hotels. Albergo San Martino provided a blissfully quiet, friendly and efficient retreat throughout our Lucca stay. For a day trip to Florence or Pisa the train station is an easy walk, with frequent service. This makes Lucca an ideal base for visiting other nearby sites. For strolls through town a series of piazzas connected by pedestrian shopping streets are only steps from the hotel, but seem a world away. I can’t imagine a better option or a better value in Lucca than Albergo San Martino.…
