The rooms are very clean and large. Beds are nice to sleep in. Breakfast is good for italian standards with good crostata. Staff is very kind and helpfull. The interior is amazing with great furniture in all the hallways. The location is also perfect. On the other side of the Arno the athmospheer is very relaxed with nice restaurants en...

Fantastic stay at Hotel Silla for 5 days in August and made particularly special by us getting engaged! The hotel had a perfect location for all the main sites and attractions within Florence- all within walking distance. A short walk along the river to the Ponto Vecchio and the Uffizi gallery. The room was immaculate with everything needed to make...

My rooms have wonderful views in the front but quiet. Could see Santa Croce from third floor with big window. Has small bar but outdoor area is wonderful. Management is excellent and take time to help in any way.

My husband and I visited the Silla Hotel in Spring, it was absolutely gorgeous. The concierge/reception wasn't very helpful but polite enough. The hotel itself is traditional and the rooms are beautifully decorated. Our room was quite small with a tiny bathroom and our window opened onto a laneway which was noisy and busy but we spent minimal time in...

I spent another fantastic Tuscan holiday in Florence from 12/30/16 to 1/7/17. Rebooked myself into Hotel Silla. Requested my same room (#33) and had an absolutely wonderful stay. I cannot say enough good things about the hotel and its staff. Despite it being two years since my last visit, I was still remembered. Located in the Oltrarno and off the...

We spent five nights last november. The best point about Silla Hotel for me was the location, just outside the city centre in a quiet square next to the Arno. After a day of sightseeing, it was very nice to get away from the tourst bustle and go to one of the nice little restaurants in the neighburhood. Breakfast was...

Great stay at Hotel Silla. My third time at this hotel, and will keep coming back. Friendly service in the lobby, good house keeping service, and what an amazing view of the arno river. I have nothing bad to say.

We've been staying at Hotel Silla for 30 years. They have upgraded without erasing the charm. I love the courtyard entrance, all the terrazzo floors, the palazzo size of the room. It's not elegant, but they get the essentials right. Good comfy beds, good breakfast, great welcoming front desk. I love it.

We were pleasantly surprised with the size of our room for two adults and two kids. It included a foyer and bathroom separated from the sleeping area. There was plenty of room between the double bed and the two single beds to walk around. The breakfasts were abundant and hearty including fresh scrambled eggs and bacon. We didn't have time...

A comfortable, affordable & quiet hotel, although one that is just off the beaten path (across the river, but still within walking distance of most everything), the Hotel Silla is a terrific option for your stay in Florence. The only thing I found wanting were nearby takeout options for food I might bring back to my room after a long...

Staying in Piazzale Michelangelo

Neighbourhood Profile
Piazzale Michelangelo
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
