We were staying down the road with friends, and had gotten in the habit of stopping by one of the little "direct to consumer" places where families sell their wine and olive oil to whomever happens to come up the driveway. On the one day, we drove to our familiar place, and the Granny who had served us in the...

What a delightful find! We were searching for a little get away for the last 2 nights in Europe and ended up here! Le Filigare! This is a Tuscan villa, gracing the crest of a hill miles from the road.. Admittedly this long winding road is a little rough in places but I loved the isolation, which is in total...

Okay, now that I've caught your attention with that overly dramatic headline - nobody actually got robbed. Kinda. The road leading up to this place was disastrous and nowhere did it say how much longer does one's car has to endure this hell that felt like riding a bike downhill on medeival tile pavement. Once we finally got up there...

We spent three wonderful days during the Easter holiday with my husband and another couple and I have to admit it was an absolute amazing break from the city and the busy life. It was more beautiful in reality than from what we ve seen in the pictures. Silence, beautiful nature, amazing panorama, beautiful apartment with chimney for the chilly...

Clean apartment, friendly host and hostess, magnificent views both from the apartment as from the swimming pool. In fact the view from the swimming pool is a live postcard. :-) This is a very good spot if you want to combine peace and quiet, relaxing at the swimming pool and discovering Tuscany. Probably also a good place for wine tasting...

As we were leaving Chianti, we stopped by this winery without an appointment. Deborah treated us to a very nice wine tasting and a bit of a tour around the property. It is absolutely beyond words. They also rent apartments here and we can't wait to return to this unbelievably tranquil setting for a vacation. It is off the beaten...

From my wine blog. Winelearning.wordpress.com. Le Filigare Wine Tasting Notes It’s well worth the drive off the main road. As you travel down a gravel road for a few minutes you come upon Le Filigare Winery. Located in the Chianti region of Tuscany, this beautiful small winery lies half way between Siena and Florence. Until I was in the region...

Alessandro is the perfect host! I loved the beautiful views from the swimming pool, relaxing with a glass of his Chianti Classico, the tour of the cellar was very informative and fun! Great apartments, comfortable and clean. Thank you

No meals served but the setting is stunning, the apartments are terrific and the wine is outgrgiously good. If you're looking for a quiet place which will live in your memory forever this is the place. The owner couldn't be more accommodating, the personal yours of the cellar and tasting are just second to none.

We know Tuscany quite well and San Donato very well indeed so have an image of the perfect Tuscan retreat on top of a hill surrounded by Cypress trees and olive groves with the deafening sound of Cicadas and vines all around. In Le Filigare we found all of these things and more. Alessandro and his family are hard working...
