Francesca runs an upscale inn directly across from Galleria dell' Accademia off San Piazza di San Marco -- a perfect location for exploring Florence on foot! We stayed 3 nights after a month as agriturismo vacationers in Sicily and Tuscany. We thoroughly enjoyed this urban oasis of peace and comfort. Our livingroom opened into a lovely inner courtyard. We cooked...

This place is a real find in a fairly hectic city. From the minute we arrived (early), Francesca made us feel extremely welcome, giving us tips for local gelateria's, cake shops, recommending we visit the museums on a special one-off late night fee opening, helping with taxi's, local markets, etc, etc. The apartment itself was clean, modern, comfortable and quiet,...

The appartment is extremely well located -less than 5 mins walk from the duomo. The 2 rooms were spacious and well kept with adequate crockery, glasses and microwave and stove. It was nice that Francesca (who was charming) had left a small basket of snacks and some bottled water and softdrinks for our arrival. Our appartment was located on the...

We had room Santo Spirito, facing the courtyard. Francesca was so nice!! The apartment was so roomy and well furnished!! It had everything (full-size hairdryer, plush towels, toiletries, wonderful bed, safe, kitchen, daily housekeeping, etc.) Great shower, lots of hot water! It is a few feet away from David!! Other reviewers said it is across the street from the Accademia,...

Our family of 4 (with two teenage boys) stayed here for a week over Christmas and it was a truly memorable experience. Francesca, the owner, is an extremely generous and hospitable host. She happily suggested her favourite places to go for bread, gelato and some fantastic regional cuisine. We stayed in the San Giovanni apartment which was very spacious, well...

The Palazzo Alfani and Francesca made our stay in Florence glorious. We were first time travelers abroad, visiting our son who was studying in Florence. The location and the fact that the owner lived in the building and spoke English was what first attracted us to the Palazzo. We stayed in the San Giovanni apartment. It was perfect for our...

This is a fantastic self-contained apartment in the heart of Florence. All sights are within walking distance, with the Accademia directly opposite Palazzo Alfani, where Michelangelo's David is housed. All amenities are close by, including a supermarket, a bus interchange, and laundromat. The apartment is one that you enjoy coming back to after a day of sightseeing, to relax! Francesca...

We stayed at the Palazzo Alfani in February in the Santo Spirito Suite, which was absolutely beautiful and furnished with much care and attention to detail. The bed was possibly the most comfortable I have ever slept in! It's a lovely quiet apartment and the owner, Francesca, was very charming and spirited, supplying us with a list of favourite restaurants...

We read the reviews on Tripadvisor and were not disappointed with Palazzo Alfani. Our 2 boys aged 12 and 10 were very comfortable on the pull out sofa bed and our room was clean and well presented. The courtyard we overlooked was beautiful even in winter and our position gave us a good nights sleep, even on New Years Eve!...

My husband and I stayed in Florence for 3 nights as part of a month long trip round Italy France and Switzerland. Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
