Didn't know what to expect. I had seen the photos and i thought it looked great. It looked MUCH better in reality. AMAZINGLY decorated rooms, great location (close to everywhere, markets, shops, sights etc.) Marco (the owner) goes out of his way to accomodate you and is very very helpful throwing in suggestions where to go, where to avoid etc....

The hotel is perfectly situated close to the Duomo and 15 min. walk to the Ponte Vecchio. Rooms (Antiq and Classic)are incredibly clean, spacious and heated (even the Classic room, that looks little in the Accademia site fotos!) Bed is very confortable; private bathrooms all modern and new, plenty of towels. If you would like to have total quiteness you...

My wife and I stayed 3 nights this past November. We had a great time and the room was fabulous. A very modern bathroom with all the conveniences and the room itself was furnished with antiques and was easily the biggest room we've encountered in any hotel, anywhere in Europe. Vaulted ceilings that display the 17th century construction of the...

My husband and I LOVED our stay at Accademia House in Florence. Marco, the owner, was SO helpful, offering restaurant recommendations and giving us lots of info about the city. Our room was HUGE, especially after coming from Paris, where the rooms are microscopic. We had our own litte patio (not much of a view) and a large private bathroom...

Myself and my girlfriend stayed at the Accademia House B&B, in Florence, Italy in June 2006. After many hours of searching for accommodation on this site, I found the Accademia House on another site, and even though not featured on TripAdvisor, their own website convinced me to give it a go! Marco the owner, met us upon arrival, even tho...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.

“if you want a quieter room, ask for the ones facing the courtyard. Will be less bright, but definitely more peaceful.”
