My husband and I stayed here in December 2016. Sylvia was kind enough to take us in for one night when our other B&B had a previously planned holiday scheduled during our time in Florence. She was referred by them and was most gracious to help us. She let us store our luggage prior to check-in, checked a bus schedule...

La Locandiera is an oasis in the middle of Florence. Rooms are cozy but beautifully appointed; keeping with the charm of Florence but with all the modern comforts. The rooms are incredibly clean and well appointed; the staff, lead by owner, Sylvia, make sure the room is clean every day from top to bottom. You are made to feel like...

We had a twin room which faced the courtyard. Room was quite big, but the bathroom and shower recess was tiny. I also found the shower recess was not very clean. Room has wooden floors, and plainly decorated. Beds were comfortable, and sleep quality was excellent. Hotel is located on 1st floor of building, and security is very good. The...

Stayed for three nights. Good location if you are travelling by train as it is just a few minutes’ walk from Firenze S. M. Novella station. It is also within walking distance of the main attractions of Florence. When you enter there are four steps and then an elevator. There is a laundromat right next door and restaurants nearby. For...

Highly recommend. We stayed one night in Florence and wished we could have stayed more. The room was clean and charming. The location was near the train station and food and attractions. The room was very quiet even through we were in the heart of the city. And most importantly Sylvia was an exceptional host. Can't wait to have the...

The breakfasts in the room were a nice touch. The air conditioning worked fine. The room was decent. The only hiccup was that there was something wrong with the air conditioning in the first room and we left the windows open and in Italy there are no screens to fit the old large windows. We did not realize that mosquitos...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
