This hotel is very convenient because famous Pinocchio shop, a coin laundry, a market and the place to see are very close. We were Japanese family. This was s first stay to Florence. However, the staff was friendly and gave us a lot of information and advice for Florence. They are very wonderful staff. We strongly appreciate their correspondence and...

This is a friendly hotel tucked away in the old part of the city, the perfect location for seeing all the major tourist sights. I walked from the train station as I only had a small trolley case, only took 10 minutes. Staff were helpful and polite, good facilities at a very reasonable price. I will recommend to all my...

I chose to stay hear again after my first visit in January. The reason I stayed here again is basically because it's clean, it's welcoming, it's value for money and it's well situated in the old part of Firenze that suited my needs. The rooms are basic but comfortable and the bathrooms are clean. This month stay was a better...

Judging from the reviews this hotel is a bargain place of beauty and we, sadly, booked three nights accordingly. It is not really a hotel being a nest of perhaps 10 rooms crammed into a tenement or its equivalent. Friendly yes, bargain no. Bearing in mind that Italy is the home of friendly hotels this place is unexceptional in that...

Dear Mr. Roland, we regret that you didn't have a good time here and you didn't appreciate the value of our small hotel that is an historic building dating back to the 600s in the heart of the historic center. This is your opinion and we respect it, but we have to write these following things for all other Customers...

I loved this place! It was small but rich in history and charm. It is a very old building so no elevators. But it's not bad climbing steps. They did offer to help with the luggage but we were good we had convertible luggage that could be a backpack which was great for this hotel and our trip. I would...

Friendly staff - nothing was too much trouble. Ideal location for 'old' Florence. Stayed in room 204, it was small and the shower very small. That said we only used the room to change and sleep in. All the staff were amazingly helpful. Would stay there again.

Upon arrival Mario and Gabriele both welcomed us warmly. We were given drinks as soon as we walked in the door and shown on a map where everything was around the city. Whenever we asked the staff they were very helpful, two recommendations for restaurants were both appreciated. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
STAYING AT HOTEL SANTA CROCE gives the possibility to live a unique experience in the magical atmosphere of Florence. Small but welcoming, Hotel Santa Croce is immersed in the marvellous historical centre, right in the heart of the artistic, cultural and commercial life of the city. The Hotel is situated in an historical building dating back to the 600s and stands on the remains of an ancient Roman amphitheatre. The illustrious Michelangelo Buonarroti spent his childhood years in the adjoining house (there is a marble plaque showing evidence of this on the wall of the first floor). While just a few metres away you can find all of the most important monuments and museums, as well as the most renowned bars for those who would like a taste of the Florentine night-life. Situated only 100 metres from Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery and Piazza Santa Croce (from where the Hotel's name derives), you can admire the enchanting Basilica where the remains of the greatest artists, writers, poets and scientists in Italian history are buried; we are also just a few steps away from il Duomo, il Battistero, the magnificent Campanile di Giotto and the Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore and Santa Maria Novella, not to mention the precious Ponte Vecchio, under which Florence's rushing River Arno flows. Or if you would prefer to dedicate some of your free-time to shopping, you can spend hours walking up and down Via Tornabuoni or Via De Calzaiuoli discovering the best names in Italian, and international fashion. The breakfast room, cosy, warm and welcoming, will help you wake up in the best of moods. There is a 24-hour reception service and staff are always willing to help wherever possible.
