Hotel is very well located - downtown, near main visit points & shopping area, also less than 10 minute walk to Florence train station & about 12 minute walk to bus station (VolainBus to Florence Airport). The staff is friendly & helpful. The complimentary breakfast is good. Also many restaurants nearby. However it took us quite some time to find...

Like many reviewers we were impressed by the close proximity to the Rail and Bus Stations. But the fact that it seems miles away because of its location on a beautiful pedestrian square was most impressive to us. We also loved that we could easily walk to all the churches, galleries and the river! Many good restaurants are nearby, too....

We stayed for 5 nights during a recent trip to Florence and were blown away with the value for money at this hotel. The location right in the heart of the Santa Maria Novella Square is amazing (approximately 3 minutes walk from the train) and we saw the entire city on foot, only using a taxi to head to dinner...

This hotel is not only clean, comfortable and has a great breakfast, it's in the perfect location! Close to the train station, an easy walk to all the "hot' tourist spots in Florence and situated on a beautiful piazza! The rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable. I would recommend this hotel!

We were looking for a place in Florence for an overnight stay (we were living in Bologna for a month). so we wanted a place close to the rail station and the heart of Firenze. A good friend from Bologna recommended it and we booked a room on line. It was a very short walk (leisurely 15 minis with a...

The hotel is very old The color of the walls in the room is dark green and almost no window to outside There is smell in bathroom There was a problem with toilet and after we asked to fix the toilet or room, they asked for 20 more euros for upgrade. On general, it is not like what you see...

I chose this hotel mainly because of its proximity to the Santa Novella station. I wanted to go down to Florence and not face the inconvenience of wondering how to get to my hotel. We were able to drag our trolleys out of the train station cross the street and in the Square, found ourselves in this hotel's lobby!! 😊...

We booked a 'Superior room with city views', but ended up in a claustrophobic box with no view. After 10 mins we had to leave the room. There was literally nowhere to put our luggage. We explained the problem to Suzanna in reception who kindly let us use the room next door, which was at least big enough to open...

I stayed at this hotel in April (2010) while traveling in Italy with my sister. I had never been to Florence and wanted a close location to the train station. This hotel offered a great rate for a double.Easy to find, right across from Sta. Maria Novella, this church takes your breath away. The room was spacious, decent breakfast, standard...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
