A well maintained and clean hotel. Stayed with my husband and 13 year old son in interconnecting rooms, which both had enough suite facilities. Quite considering location we slept late each morning. Loved the breakfast pancakes. Close to all sights and restaurants as well as walking distance from the train station.

Very nice and cosy restaurant, at a very convenient walking distance from the main train station in Florence. From there it's easy to wander around the beautiful city. Sleep quality is very good (but we had a room facing the back of the hotel, so no views to be expected), and breakfast was interesting, but not the best 4-star-hotel breakfast...

The hotel is truly within walking distance from the train station and you can easily walk with your luggage (dodging a few oriental tourist running in the opposite direction late in catching a train). It is also within a pleasant walk from the main tourist "must -sees" and the Mercato Centrale. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had two...

A nice hotel, near the station. The first night we had a quadruple room which was ok for only one night. It was very hot. The second night we moved to a family room in the new building, nothing to do with the first room. The breakfast was also excellent - good selection and great service. My daughter loved the...

This review is based on professional of receptionists and facility, not including breakfast. Lost of over flown luggages around the front desk, maybe this hotel don't have any room for guest luggages. Check in with the front desk, then to our room, a very standard European double bed room, small but enough to move around. A balcony is a plus....

Hotel itself is close to train station which is ideal. Rooms are of average standard, but can be a little noisey if overlooking tramlines. Hotel was overrun with chinese though, which is fine but their eating habits at breakfast were slightly annoying; picking up absolutley everything and eating it as if it's a chinese meal (you can't eat yoghurt with...

The room was extremely clean, the staff were friendly. Close to the train station. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The breakfast host was a sweetheart. Very nice gentleman. My only negative was the beds were hard but that seemed to be the case in all the hotels we stayed at in Italy.

We arrived at the Hotel Embassy in the morning and our room was ready. There were 3 of us traveling together and the room was adequate. The front desk was helpful with tours and directions. The location is around the corner from the train station, but that was not a problem, we just shut the windows at night. The morning...

We were supposed to be staying in the MH Florence Hotel and Spa but on arrival we were told they had problems with their water supply and were to be moved to their sister hotel the Embassy. As compensation for our inconvenience we would be offered an upgraded room. Well the room we received was very poor, in need of...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
