This hotel was a disappointment, and we booked through Go-Today.com. The hotel was junky, the toilet in our room was broken for over 24 hours when we were there (and the staff did not rush to fix this or call someone until we were on our last night), and although our reservation said this hotel included breakfast, this was never... The hotel is very near to the station, but quite difficult to find. Turn left out of the station, cross the road with tram lines, follow the road to the right and you will see the Boccaccio in front of you. Take the Via del Albero which is immediately to the right of the Boccaccio and this will bring you... More

Serviceable hotel well located two blocks from train station. Easy walk to most other services. Breakfast nothing to write home about. Be careful when you open doors to outside – lots of mosquito bites in our room. Don't rely on A/C. But, for the location and price – rated a three. Front desk was also very helpful. Located directly across... More

We spent 4 nights here. It was about a 10 min (or less) walk from the train station. The rooms were clean and the air conditioning worked great. Breakfast was adequate to get one going in the morning. It was a 10 minute walk to the center of the city. We used public transit to go further distances such as... More

We were a family of four and were given a room at the street level. That was convenient. The room opened right onto the street. Very convenient. And the room was big with good A/C. Hotel is close to the train station. But then everything in Florence is close and walking distance. Staff was friendly and room was clean.

Two words: air conditioning. Privacy and a good shower in combination with the air conditioning, made staying here bliss after backpacking through other hostels and "hotels" in Europe. Don't expect much more than a bed in a room with a reasonable location...and you will enjoy your stay.

We spent 4 nights there, They have a very good swimming pool (for hot summer days), restaurant and facilities. Good staff and a breakfast with so many options. Our room had a balcony with a very beautiful view.

Walking distance from the train station. Helpful people at the front desk. Walking distance to downtown Florence and the main activities (museums, etc.). Very small and nothing special to it. At least it was clean. Do not expect much from the location looks. Ok for a couple of days of travelling in a budget.

The Hotel Palazzuolo is located a few blocks south of the Florence train station and a few blocks north of the Arno River. It is also a few blocks west of Piazza della Repubblica and the center of Florence (just a short 10 minute walk). While it is a close to the train station it is hard to find if... More

We had a wonderful stay. The room was clean, warm and pleasant. The staff kind and helpful. Easy access to train, sights and yummy places to eat. Place to do our laundry around the corner (blessing). Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good clean budget place to stay in this beautiful city!

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

“I asked for Room 20 cause it's just 50 euros (well 52), and the other rooms on the upper floor have bathrooms, so you're not technically "sharing" with anyone, on my second stay two weeks later, I guess #20 was occupied, but they didn't charge me more and gave me a different room with a private bath for the same price. T'was good.”
