Excellent hotel! 5 min away from Firenze SMN station and a short walk to all major sights. The room was clean and cozy, also well maintained. The breakfast was amazing, with freshly brewed caffe or cappuccino as you ordered! The staff were all very helpful and courteous.

Excellent stay: location, breakfast, cleanliness and staff friendliness and hospitality all great! We found the shower space small but we we're very satisfide overall. I am a cleanliness freak by nature and this hotel stay had me at ease! Cleaned daily and new fresh linen was so good to come back to after a big day exploring and shopping at...

I recently stayed at Hotel Vasari for six nights for a conference at the Palazzo de Congressi. My first impression was that the location was SUPERB - practically across the street from the Piazza Adua (where you get dropped off by the airport shuttle) and next door to the conference centre. Being a solo traveller and travelling to Europe alone...

The hotel it's just outside the train station, near the conference center called "Fortezza da Basso" and the church of "Santa Maria Novella", so it's easy to find if you arrive in Florence by train and at the same time the city center is not far away. Good service, quiet and clean room and cheap prices. Recommended.

The location is the best thing about this place. Very central - only a few minutes walk from the train station and buses. You can even walk into town from here (we did - every day). It's a very basic hotel, it's clean, small and has very mismatched furniture. But let's face it, you're not here for the hotel! Breakfast...

Our Room 308 with ensuite was excellent - great shower with plentiful hot water, toiletries and hair dryer. Good storage faciltiies. Good quality bedding and towels were changed daily . You can't get a better location than this hotel. Only 5 minute walk from the train station and 5 minutes to the Duomo and the centre of Florence. The hotel is a bit older and the bathroom was small but it was perfect for a 2 night stay. The room was large, the air-conditioning worked (and we needed it in...

We should have asked for a different room but we were only there for 4 nights. We had a noisy room over looking a busy street . The air con was poor and we had to sleep with the window closed, because of the noise, and Florence was hot. The bathroom was no more than a cupboard and the shower...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
