The location and service offered by the Davanzati cannot be beat. We stayed 5 nights, followed by 2 nights in Siena, returning for one final night before leaving Italy. Our return felt like going home. Fabrizio and Tomasso are the consummate hosts - attending to...More
We truly loved our experience at this hotel. This was our first time in Florence, and we will absolutely stay here again when we return. This is a hotel to recommend to your friends-the staff is helpful and warm. The breakfast and happy hour is...More
We pushed the button at the bottom of the stairs, and there began a wonderful 2 days at the Davanzati. We were welcomed by Tommaso, the youngest of 3 generations that manage this first rate hotel. We had other nice hotel experiences in Italy, but...More
We booked this hotel on the basis of other TA recommendations - and they weren't wrong. Right in the centre of Florence - 5 minutes from the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio and strone-throwing distance to Gucci and Prada - and run by the same...More

Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city
as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.

Unfortunately Florence is always full of tourists but October is a much better month than in the summer. Because many colleges have study abroad programs based in Florence, there is a steady influx of college aged people.. You should book tickets now for the Uffizi and the Accademia if you are planning to see either one. Print the confirmation and take it with you to exchange for tickets at the location or the Davanzati will do it for you if you ask and the confirmation will be on the ipad they provide for you.

Best suggestion would be to call the hotel directly because in Europe they are a little particular about the number of people in a room. Our room in Davanzati was huge and easily accomodated 4 of us. But my kids are only 9 and 6. The hotel is in the heart of the city so the outside view is nothing to talk about much.
