We found the hotel to be excellent. It was very clean and the in room facilities are better than any five star. There were six of us staying including two children, and not one complaint from any one in our party. We will certainly go back and use it as our base to discover more of Tuscany.

My wife and I stayed beginning November 5th for 3 nights. Wonderful experience made special by Tommasso and his staff. Especially enjoyed nightly happy hour with Prosecco and Bruschetta. Excellent way to meet other travelers and take a break. Rooms were a good size although bathroom was a little bit small but within European standards. Rooms and entire hotel was...

We stayed at this hotel after reading the rave reviews on Trip Advisor. It's a small hotel which you enter through an understated doorway, then up a flight of stairs (or by a tiny lift). All the facilities are good and the location was excellent, right in the centre of everything. But it is their fabulous attention to detail and...

Fabrizio and Tomasso are wonderful hosts. Our room was spacious beyond compare - even compared to rooms in the States. And, even though next to the lobby and over the street, it was quiet. The laptop and Playstation in the room allowed us to relax after a day of sightseeing (climbed the Duomo), watch a couple movies we hadn't seen...

I stayed here for two nights in November of 2007. I picked this hotel because I am a concierge in the United States and I always like to stay at hotels that are highly rated on Tripadvisor so that I can perhaps learn new things about great customer service that I can use in my own job as a concierge....

Amazing place!! It is very quiet and peaceful in the rooms, yet close to all the best attractions in Florence. The hotel staff was extremely friendly. It is a father/son family business and they gave outstanding dining recommendations during our stay. The hotel is very clean and an incredible value -- I would have expected to pay much more. Plus...

The family owners of the Davanzati make a real effort to be helpful. They make restaurant recommendations and reservations, as well as reserving tickets for the main museums. The restaurants they recommended were good (and reassuringly for this 'Rough Guide to Italy' user, some were also listed in the Guide). The complimentary drinks and nibbles from 6.30-7.30pm every day were...

We have just returned from a magical trip to Florence. The Hotel Davanzatti was superb. Fabrizio and his son were fantastic hosts. They gave us some great recommendations on restaurants and were extremely helpful with any query we had. I have never experienced such top class service before. The hotel rooms are beautiful and so clean. All of the staff...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
