This is our first time staying in Florence, and I'm so glad we're staying at the Hotel Davanzati! The location is perfect (everything is walkable -- even the train station), the staff is lovely and helpful, and the rooms are gorgeous! Tuscan tile, exposed beams, homey feel, and noise-canceling windows all make this hotel unique and charming. They give you...

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW

This is a small family hotel run by three generations; grandpa is still greeting guests at the tender age of 93! The son and grandsons are wonderful helpful hosts and all the staff is helpful and pleasant in all manner of ways. The location is centrally located for all attractions and the museum and restaurant recommendations were most helpful.

We stayed here for two nights in mid-March. We arrived early afternoon and were greeted like family. The initial stairs you have to climb are a little challenging with luggage, but manageable. We were in a junior suite and it was a great layout. Plenty of room for our family of four. Definite attention to detail. In the information left...

Great stay here for 2 nights. Wish it had been longer. The hotel is in a great spot. Walkable to and from everything - the train station, the museums, the leather market, Duomo...everything is very close. The hotel is clean and well appointed with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast (cereal, fruit, pastries and great coffee) was just right and...

The Hotel Davanzati was a great base for us. Whether it was shopping, sightseeing or dining, everything was a short walk away. Our room was very large, the bathroom was a little small, but it was spotless. We were skeptical to take hotel recommendations for dinner lest it was a favoritism system, but the ones we found on our own...

Stayed her with 2 other couples--everyone loved it. The location is very great--just around the corner from Piazza della Repubblica, and a short stroll to the Duomo or the Ponte Vecchio. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. One of the couples got to stay in a brand new wing that had brand new furnishings. But my room was still...

When traveling in Europe for pleasure, we prefer to stay at smaller boutique hotels that are centrally located to the sites we want to visit. For a trip on which we brought our 3 young adult children to Florence for their first time, staying at Hotel Davanzati was perfect. It’s no more than a 10 minute walk to the Duomo,...

My son and I are traveling around Italy and staying in many hotels. Our experience with the Hotel Davanzati has been the most enjoyable so far. In addition to the comments and amenities that other travelers have left, the difference here is that you feel like family. After a long day of exploring, you come back to the hotel for...

We picked the Hotel Davanzati because it was recommended in Rick Steeves book on Florence and also had tons of great reviews on TripAdvisor. We spent a week in the hotel and really enjoyed our visit. We were in room 202 and (while the windows have no views - they look into the building next door and down to the...

The boutique hotel was close to the Duomo, rooms very clean and service very helpful and accommodating. I've already recommended the hotel to friends and would definitely stay there again. It is a great value and the ipad mini they loan you during your stay is truly an exceptional amenity and useful to have, especially when in need of the...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
