I actually had a booking with a different hotel, but was moved to Hotel Adler Cavalieri, which turned out to be great. The hotel is a short walk from the train station and a couple of great restaurants, including a small Italian restaurant and a steak house, which had great prices and service (just ask the reception desk for their...

Stayed here for 2 nights. The location was very easy to find from the train station and whilst it is not in the greatest location we did not have any problems. It is a short walk to the historic centre and all the sights, no need to use public transport around Florence. Staff very helpful and were able to obtain...

Booked for 3 nights stay at this hotel in August after reading some of the reviews here. However didn't find this hotel to be worth the money - mainly due to its location in the most dangerous part of the city, and the condition of the room. What was worst was the nightly raid by the many mozzies in the...

I haven't never answered to an opinion of one of our guest, but I need to explain that the photo encloded ( dead mozzie ) doesn't show one of our rooms or a public area of our property.

Great location. The hotel is very close to the Florence SMN train station. There are numerous internet cafes, laundry shops and bars on the same street. Friendly staff. I booked my entrance tickets to Galleria dell'Accademia and Uffizi with concierge. Buffet breakfast included different kinds of ham, cereals, fruits, breads, eggs and pastries. I had reserved a double room. It...

Stayed here early July. Excellent location, friendly, helpful staff at front desk and beautiful room. Only criticism was the price of drinks in the hotel bar, but plenty of cheaper bars in vicinity.

We stayed at Hotel Adler for 2 nights in July 2006. It was great! First, it is close to the train station, about an 8 minute walk, which is very helpful when carrying heavy luggage. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with friendly staff and our room was ready. The room was average with a very nice...

Adler Cavalieri truly needs to win the award for service, class and overall convenience. Don't get me wrong, I am sure there are nicer hotels in Florence, but Adler Cavalieri is the BEST value you can find for the $$ (or rather Euro). I stayed for 3 nights on a 14 day tour of Europe. My first night I was...

The Adler is an oasis. We stayed here July 9-12, 2006 and I was overjoyed at my experience there. Hotel desk staff were excellent, going the extra mile to help, e.g., phoning ahead to various properties to help us make reservations at our next stop. Our room was clean, quiet and nicely appointed. Marble bath was lovely. The "matrimonial" bed...

After being in Rome for 3 days with a mediocre hotel, we arrived at the Adler. It is just a few minutes from the train station; great location. The hotel itself is lovely. Clean, great rooms and all decorated nicely. The best part was the front desk staff, particularly the concierge. I had corresponded with him prior to our trip...

We weren't thrilled with this hotel. Our biggest complaint was the unfriendly attitude at the front desk. We politely asked a few quick questions on two occasions and felt as though we were bothering them. One night we came back to our room to find that we were out of soap. I went to the front desk to ask for...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
