We loved this hotel. It is a 2 block walk to the train station, the hop on/off bus, an art museum, designer shops & many restaurants. The staff is helpful. We loved Vinicio, the bar man. He offered wonderful restaurant suggestions, great price shopping spots & interesting conversation. We would stay here again!!

The location of this hotel was convenient to everything. It was a 4-5 minute walk to the train station. Most of the rooms overlook the piazza located in front of the Santa Maria Novella church. The room was beautiful with soaring ceilings, hard wood floors and marble bathroom. Extremely comfortable and quiet. The staff was attentive, friendly and provided terrific...

We just returned from 10 days in Italy. The Santa Maria Novella Hotel in Florence was a gem of a place to stay. It is located in the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, a few blocks from the train station. It was easy to find and get to, after traveling by train from Rome. The room and bathroom were large by...

We stumbled on to this gem - located very near the train station. It was no problem to walk with luggage to the hotel. Pictures on the website made the hotel easy to find. Staff was very accommodating and made reservations, etc. very easy. Our room was HUGE by Italian standards - so was the bathroom. Breakfast here was the...

It was a completely pleasurable stay. The room was immuculate and a good size. Great bathroom too, very clean and big towels. We can't wait to return. Biloxi Travelers!

My mother and I spend 5 nights in this lovely hotel overlooking the Santa Maria Novella. We were literally a few minutes walk from the Duomo and the river. The location was fantastic. By far the biggest plus was the room itself. We had a spectacular view of the piazza and church. The room was spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated....

We stayed at the Santa Maria Novella for a combined business and pleasure trip with our six year old. The hotel were really accommodating from the start and nothing was too much trouble. We were collected,as arranged, from the airport at Pisa and taken straight to our hotel (about a forty minute journey depending on traffic) and arrived to be...

We stayed at this hotel based on Trip Advisor's recommendation and were very pleased. We booked a superior room with a view of the church. The room was very large by European standards. Turn down service with slippers place by the side of the bed was a nice touch. Large bathroom and walk in closet and foyer. We had wonderful...

We stayed 4 nights at the hotel in April 2011 to begin our honeymoon in Italy. We arrived at the hotel around 1 PM and were told that our room would not be available for 1 hour to 1.5 hours. We understand completely and went out to get a bite to eat and walk around. We returned to the hotel...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
