Nice hotel, rather small, very friendly staff, excellent breakfast in a amazingly beautiful galley, and very well located along the river nearby the Ponte Vecchio and close to the historical center. We stayed in a two bedroom suite in the modern part, which was very convenient for the three of us (me, my wife and our 17 y old daughter)....

My wife and I loved this hotel. We upgraded our stay to have a view of the piazza (square) and I'm glad we splurged. Phenomenal view! There's a good selection of American channels on the TV (not that you'll be watching much). Very decadent rooms and a very comfortable bedding and shower. Centrally located and an easy 1 block walk...

We have stayed for 4 nights and I could not have asked for more! Breakfast is superb and the room was cosy and very clean. 3minutes walking for the Dome and all the beauties of the historical centre. The terrace has a beautiful view of the square. 5 minutes walking from the train station! Strongly recommend!

We loved staying at this hotel. It's beautifully decorated and the Rooms overlooking the Santa Maria Square are spacious and well located. Excellent soundproofing and very warm. The staff are friendly and the Breakfast room is quite spectacular. We were able to walk to all major attractions comfortably with many restaurants on the doorstep. Would Definitely return.

We stayed here for 5 night's for a relations birthday and which also took us into the New Year. Having picked a room without a view I didn't quite appreciate it actually meant that. No view except a stone well. Being on the 2nd floor also meant very little day light permeated the room making it feel chlostrophobic. Also, this...

We chose this hotel because our favourite tour company, Martin Randall who have the highest possible standards uses it for their Florence tours. The hotel was very picturesque, our upgraded junior suite room was beautiful but being between summer and winter was hot and I had to leave the windows opening to the piazza open at night, which was very...

We stayed one night, room 213 on floor 2B. This was a return trip to Florence because we loved it so much when we visited 6 years ago. Quiet room, very comfortable bed, large spacious bathroom. The hotel is easily located. If arriving by train at Firenze Santa Maria, when you exit the train station you cross the road and...

We stayed here for a conference and some free time. It was early spring and the weather was unseasonably warm. Surprisingly, when our room got very hot, the staff told us that they could not turn on the airconditioning because it wasn't the season for that yet. Apparently it was technically impossible to turn on the airconditioning at that time...

We loved our stay in this hotel! We arrived early in the morning and were able to store our luggage at the hotel. The location is fantastic. We arrived by train and it was a 3 minute walk to the hotel! It is also a fantastic location for exploring this beautiful city. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful with quaint...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
