I stayed 3 nights in this hotel in Dec-04. At first I only reserved 2 nights via an agent on the Internet at €70,00 (so-called special rate). Then I extended one more night some days later by phone at €80,00 (standard rate). So my experience was: try to make it in advance, at least you can search the prices listed...

Room was large and clean (as was the bathroom). Stayed there the begining of December. Breakfast was fine. Staff was helpful. Only issue was that after the first night I thought it was a little warm, and was unable lower the heat, so the next night I left the windows open (no screens) and was bitten several time by mosquitos,...

We stayed at the hotel the last week in October. We were in one of the renovated rooms which were very clean. Showers didnt bother us a bit, most of the water went right down the drain and used one towel as a bathmat. Food was good at the breakfast buffet. Hotel is just a short walk from the Duomo....

Clean rooms that were fairly large. Staff polite but not always very helpful. No irons or ironing boards or clock in the room. Slow blow dryer in the bathroom and the shower was a flimsy looking plastic box that leaked some but showers were hot and had good water pressure. Breakfast was cereal and rolls with juice and coffee from...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
