Sullen That's the best word to describe the hosts. We had arrived here from Rome and having read all the reviews on this place kept telling my husband that if the host and hostess seemed a little exuberant, it was because they were so proud of their guest house. Ha! Believe me, that was never to be a problem. We...

We just returned from a 9 day trip through Italy, which included 2 nights at the Tourist House Ghiberti and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were able to check into our room upon arriving at 1:00pm and we were quite pleased. The room was huge, as was the bathroom. It was spotless and the bed was quite confortable. The...

Just returned from 3 days at the Tourist House Ghiberti. LOCATION: Its a nice B&B close to Duomo (Cathedral). The neighborhood is nice and close to train station and many tourist attractions and is quite safe even late at night. If you are arriving by train and have lots of luggage, I'd recommend a short 6 euros taxi ride to...

My wife and I just returned from 6 nights in Florence and stayed at the Tourist House Ghiberti. It is the perfect palce to stay whilst in Florence. Claudio and Cristelle made us feel at home. The service and rooms were first class and much larger than many hotel rooms in Italy as were the ensuites. The breakfasts were of...

We have recently returned from a nine night stay in this charming guest house. We stayed in room #5 which I would recommend because it is on the back of the building and is very quiet, except for the lovely church bells you hear in the morning. The room was a very nice size and every comfort of the guest...

My daughter and I travelled to Italy in February, spending two nights in Florence, then moving on to Milano and catching the train back to Rome from there. Our main priorities were price and safety. We only looked into hotels and bed and breakfasts which offered off-season rates. This little (5 rooms maybe) establishment had nice reviews on this website...

We loved our stay at the Tourist House Ghiberti. Our room was huge and the bathroom spacious. It is very nicely appointed and nicely decorated. In addition to the charm we love -- arched hallway openings, plaster walls, terracota floors -- it has all the modern conveniences of a much pricier hotel. The in-room computer with FREE Internet access is...

I recently stayed 3 nights at Tourist House Ghiberti. My room was spacious, spotlessly clean and with a lovely, large bathroom. The location is superb (right behind the Duomo) and having internet access in the room was a bonus. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is a real find in expensive Florence. The hosts are extremely professional and helpful...

Can you say almost perfect ? This place has it all. Magnificently located, fairly cheap (in Italian standards), Spic & Span clean, charming, roomy... etc. The only problem (if you can call it a problem !) is that our front desk guy was somewhat nosy. Well, he insisted on no less than four occasions to enter our room to let...

The place is spotless and attractive. It's centrally located and the owners are amazingly helpful. Having free breakfast and free Internet also make this a wonderful place to stay. Great!

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
