This hotel is centrally located, close to all the key museums and piazzas. It is a character building with unique artwork and furnishings. The staff is welcoming and ready to help. On our departure day they were able to provide us with early breakfast and were glad to do it. This is an older building, if you have earplugs bring...

Very nice stay in Florence! The staff are so kind and helpful, they made you feel welcome since you cross the door. With my sisters we stayed in the family room which consist in 2 separated areas into the same room, spacious, and clean. Great value for what we got. Close to the train station so you can walk or...

I was there for only two nights and it was a good visit. Very close to terminal station. About a 15-40min walk to attractions. Depending where you are going of course. The people are nice. I don't think they have a elevator though. They have three floors.

We had a lovely stay at the Hotel Albion. From the moment we entered and were greeted by the delightful Sara and her cute puppy, we felt welcome and right at home. We are a family of four (including my husband and two teenage children) and you never know quite what to expect when requesting a "family" or "quad" room....

If you're looking to stay somewhere with a highly individual sense of style, the Hotel Albion might be to your liking. The hotel is a nineteenth-century Neo-Gothic palazzo not far from Santa Maria Novella and only a 15-minute walk from the Piazza della Signoria. Staying here is an unusual experience from the moment you walk into the lobby — your...

I can really recommend this hotel. It's quite centrally located and only a 10 minute walk from the Duomo and 5 minutes to the central train station. It's housed in a 16th century palazzo and run by a family. Ideal for tourists, probably a bit less for business travellers. The rooms are spacious, functional and clean. Equipped with the usual,...

This is hands down our favorite hotel in Italy. We've been to Florence many times now and always stay at the Albion. Sara, Massimo, Susanna, Nik, and everyone else who at this hotel is amazing to work with and so helpful. The rooms are comfortable, the location is conveniently walkable from all of the tourist sites (but also far enough...

We had the pleasure of staying 4 days in this hotel during our time in Florence, and we truly enjoyed it. The room was spacious, clean, and well equipped. However, the true highlight of the hotel is the owners,Sara and Massimo. They made us feel at home and were always there to help out with directions and suggestions about places...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
