What a beautiful hotel, perfect location and facilities & everything was clean! We were able to walk around Florence at ease and then finish of with a nice dip in the roof top pool looking over the sky line. If I am ever in Florence again we will definitely be back. Thank you Hotel Minerva!

Dear jr25336m Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm! We are truly happy to have contributed to a nice stay in Florence and… definitely you’ll have to come back: there so much to see in this city and its surroundings… Looking forward to your next visit. Filippo Burroni – General Manager

Pretty well located hotel with reasonable service, a nice outlook and stylish rooms. We had a big family room over two levels and plenty of room to spare. Nice pool on the roof looked like fun but it was not heated and therefore not an option for us.

Dear Toby T, thank you for having been with us and for having shared your comments on TripAdvisor. We are happy you had a pleasant stay and that you liked your room, which actually does not exist anymore as such! The hotel is now completing its thorough renovation and we are currently working on 25 out of our 100 rooms....

Amazing hotel located about 5 minutes walk away from the main train station! It's also located right next to a historical church, the Santa Maria Novella (with its amazingly beautiful frescoes and murals). From the hotel, the bus to the Outlet was located about 5 minutes walk away - very convenient. The room was very clean and very well furnished...

The hotel is going through renovation thus the affordable room rate in this period. Take advantage! We stayed over the weekend so it was quiet. Our room was brand new and absolutely lovely. My compliments to the architect. Especially the bathroom is great with lots of space, lights and mirrors. Location is few steps away from main train station on...

Dear Alessandra66_8, first of all let me thank you for having been with us and for your very kind words about our services and premises. I would like add some information regarding the current renovation. We are currently renovating 25 rooms. They are contained in a wing of the hotel which is not accessible to guests and therefore so far...

This is an amazing hotel located near to the rail station and near to all attractions in Florence. Price is expensive but worth. Renovated large room with jice bathroom and good quality amenities. Breakfast just amazing and staff very polite. Bed sheets changed every day, minibar was free of charge as courtesy when we were there. Late check out available...

I had stayed in this hotel on a tour in 1996 and remembered only that the tour company selected only fine hotels (incidentally, they don't use this one anymore, for reasons unknown) and that the location was superb for arriving and departing through Santa Maria Novella station, walking distance away, which is what my wife and I were proposing to...

Dear louis K, It is really great that you have remembered of us after 20 years and that you have enjoyed your stay. As you have seen yourself, almost everything has changed (we have renovated every single part of the hotel) but have tried (apparently with some success) to keep our warm hospitality. We are actually still refurbishing our last...

We went by plane to Florence and took the bus (Volainbus) from the airport to the main station. From there is just a few minutes walk to the hotel. You do not need a car in Florence, as all the attractions are within walking distance. From the hotel to the Duomo? Not more than 5..10min. We arrived in the morning...

Dear Lorenzo, thank you for having been with us and for your extensive and very helpful review. We took good note of your remark regarding hot food at breakfast and we will treat this as a priority. The property looks gorgeous on the outside and the beautiful lobby is warm and inviting. They evidently spent quite a bit of money on recent renovations. The super friendly staff welcomed us and immediately offered us an 'upgrade'. Don't take it! We walked through the pretty hallways only to get to the un-renovated section of the hotel - our first...

This hotel was great!! We were upgraded to a superior room that was newly renovated and very modern. It was a 5 minute walk from the train station and another 5 minutes or less to the Duomo. The bed was very comfortable and our view of the Piazza was unforgettable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Florence....

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
