San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on
Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.

Unless you have nerves of steel, I would not attempt driving in Florence. Also, there are areas of the city where it is forbidden to drive without a neighborhood permit, and they are not well marked for tourists. You could incur a heavy fine. We hired Alesandro Cammilli who drove us to Cinque Terre and he was wonderful. Google the name for his website.
