We stayed 4 nights at the end of July. Our room was huge - by European standards and no trouble with noise at night. Room and bathroom were clean. It was my birthday during this stay and the hotel sent a bottle of sparkling wine to enjoy - a very nice touch. The front desk staff was very helpful with...

We only stayed one night at the Hotel Paris and loved it. The location is EXCELLENT: 2 blocks from Il Duomo one way, and 2 blocks from the main train station the other way. great neighborhood area of small boutiques & cafes, and easy to get to everything with hotel as base. Huge rooms & spacious bathrooms -- high ceilings....

Checking into the hotel we were handed a 3 pound key to our room. Our welcome to Hotel Paris was inviting. The hotel's front desk staff was friendly and had a wealth of knowledge of Florence. We took our individual research and coupled it with what the front desk staff shared with us. The location of the hotel was relatively...

I stayed at this hotel at the end of July with a total of 10 family members on a trip that included staying at 3 other hotels in Italy. This was by far our favorite one. The service was excellent, each member of our family loved our rooms, our family used 3 double rooms and 1 quad. The front desk...

I had read some of the reviews on this hotel and was a little anxious that we may have picked badly. However, on arrival all concerns were dispelled and the hotel is lovely. It is full of Italian charm and character. If you want a hotel that is sterile and could be anywhere in the world than this isnt for...

I read some of the recent mediocre reviews and was a little nervous before we arrived. However, I was pleasantly surprised and if I was to return to Florence, would probably book into this hotel again. This hotel is full of charm and history. Comprised of two palazzos converted to create it, you can expect some odd shaped rooms and...

This hotel is indeed filthy, and the lifts are useless, so you will be using the stairs a lot. I do not know who is staying that this was a great hotel to stay in, as the condition is so poor. The noise from outside is not that bad, but the bed is very uncomfortable, and my room was so...

The rooms were very old and dusty. The lifts takes forever to reach the 2nd level. Since it's progressive levels. After coming out of the lift u still have to climb stairs to ur rooms. Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
