We stayed here for 3 nights. We'd booked a superior room but were upgraded to a deluxe room. The impressive room was very large but mostly filled with beds (1 large double and 2 singles). This wasn't really a problem but it might have been nice to have some more comfortable seating instead. The bed was very comfortable though and... More

Stayed here for 4 nights, 2 couples, in September 2016. Great location near train station. Easy access at train station for all bus tours. Many restaurants nearby. adequate breakfast with our room rate, croissants were great. Very quiet area, great little outdoor patio for guests use. Downside was walls very thin, could even hear people talking quietly in their rooms,... More

The entire hotel is dirty.. with stains on the carpeting. The hotel faces the street so there is plenty of noise all night with ambulances and people talking. The breakfast has plenty of selection and would be the only saving grace of this hotel as well as the location. I would not stay here again.

Dear Guests, we regret a lot that you did not enjoy your stay in our hotel. We have already changed carpets in most of our rooms and soon are going to change it also in the common area. As far as it regards the noise we have got different rooms facing on the inside courtyards which are quiet: you can... More

Very friendly staff in a very unique hotel. Rooms were small with the bedroom upstairs. Bathroom very small. But it was clean and had tons of character. The breakfast was good. It was the perfect location as it is central to everything We enjoyed it

A palace it may have been but now a bit in need of doing up. The location is fantastic to be able to easily walk all of the city. The price of convenience is the noise of scooters and bin wagons day and night - worth it though. The breakfast room gets busy and is a bit cramped when the... More

I rated this hotel very good due to the great location, an easy walk from the train station or to the sights, the staff was exceptional in every way. For the hotel itself keep in mind this is an older property so don't expect more than the 3 stars its rated, we had a superior room which I think is... More

Great find right in the heart of florence. Good breakfast served in quaint dining room. Walking distance to all the attractions. Bit noisy at night if you slept with the windows open. Air conditioning did not work, but this is a very old building that has been maintained very well and still has an authentic feel and look about it.... More

on the official website they describe the hotel as a boutique hotel, an authentic jewel in the historical center. I must have missed something!! My average rating is due only to the friendly and helpfull staff. Room and bathroom were terrible. Noisy airco, holes in walls and floor in the bathroom, no aeration and a door that you couldn't shut.... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
