Located in the piazza where Santa Maria Novella church is...within walking distance of most everything in Florence. 1-2 blocks from the train station and not far from the center of Florence. Great restaurant within 1-2 blocks called Buca Mario...food and service was outstanding! Rooms at hotel not too small and bathroom a decent size. Showers a little small. Breakfast was...

The hotel location is great! A short walk (3 blocks) from the train station, and to other main attractions as well. The rooms were decent, but the staff was fantastic. In fact, we left the hotel we were at to come to Hotel Roma, specifically because of the kindness of the staff. Specifically, we were stranded by the bus system...

We went with another couple for new year. We had asked for a quiet room at the back and were both given these. The rooms were comfortable. We did hear the church bells at 7am every morning but this is not a problem. It is true it is opposite an ambulance station but I am not sure how busy this...

We stayed in a quad room with our two adult children. Very nice experience and a great location. Lizbeth at the front desk made it a wonderful extra special stay helping us with many concierge services and recommendations.

Stayed for a couple of nights on business. Great location - at the Piazza Santa Maria Novella and just 5 minutes from main old town attractions. The staff was very friendly, pleasant and helpful (for example - in finding a place for very late night dinner). The amenities are rather basic, the toilette seat in my room was positioned in...

Beautiful old style hotel in a magnificent location. The hotel Roma is a 5 minute walk from the train station, and has easy access to everywhere in Florence. The hotel has a variety of rooms in different shapes, sizes, and colors. All of them are very nice. The breakfast area is not the largest but adequate enough, and the selections...

This was our second hotel in our 3-city tour of Italy for our honeymoon. The room was small, but sufficient for the two of us. Our overall stay was great! Breakfast left a lot to be desired in comparison to Rome. Our location was great. It was in walking distance to everything from the train station to the Duomo and...

The Hotel Roma in Firenze gives you the feel of stepping back into a 1940's movie set and not in a bad out of date way but in a very classy way. It is a beautifully appointed hotel. In all respects a Hotel worth the money with one exception and one that the hotel has no control over. It is...

The hotel was generally good. The room was nicely decorated, modern and extremely clean and I would say quite comfortable for a family of 4 persons. The only thing was that the windows were looking in an open space so the view was actually a wall! We didn't really care as we were practically returning to the hotel only for...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
