We were there in early November and had a wonderful time in Florence. Hotel Roma is centrally located on a piazza. Everything is within walking distance with great restaurants and shops close by. The breakfast included is actually very good - one of the best on our whole trip (Rome, Florence and Venice). Our room was clean and comfortable overlooking...

I stayed at the Hotel Roma for 5 nights on a recent business trip to Florence. The hotel is very centrally located, close to the train station and in the Piazza Santa Maria Novella. Very close to all of the historical sites, and lots of good restaurants. My room was plenty big with a double bed, a decent sized bathroom...

We stayed at Hotel Roma in August this year. The hotel is gorgeous with one of the best lobby areas I have ever seen The service was 1st class, the position amazing, right on Santa Maria Novella Piazza. This is just a very short walk from the station, even dragging luggage. The breakfast in the dining room was fantastic, with...

Booked hotel for short break (3 nights) in Florence for 2 couples. Hotel was very well situated in the main square and within walking distance to all the main sites. No shortage of shops, restaurants and bars surrounding the hotel. Rooms were spacious and well equipped with all the usual supplies of toiletries. Given that the hotel is located in...

The location is excellent, only 3 minutes to walk from the main station. The room was amazing, pretty, clean and with a comfortable bed. What really messed up the stay was that we barely slept at night caused to the traffic-noise. We stayed at the 4th floor, had the windows and the louvre closed and still didn't sleep. So when...

We found this gem of a hotel en route to a walk & talk tour on our first full day in Florence. We were looking for a 10 day base and were seeking 4 star accommodation which this hotel most definitely is. We saw it and had to have a look at it. Supervising receptionist Stefania took time from her...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
