We've just returned from 3 nights at this delightful boutique hotel in a great location for exploring this beautiful city as well as being only a 5 minute walk from the main train station. Nothing was too much trouble - the staff were very attentive and helpful without being intrusive or pushy. Special mention to the service enjoyed from Paola...

Came here as part of a group tour and it is a quaint small hotel in the center of everything. Walking distance to Duomo, churches and museums. Great restaurants and shopping all around and just a block off the river. Rooms are very small and not what you are accustomed to in the USA but it is in a building...

Lovely hotel close to city centre (10 mins walk) and Duomo and museums. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and our room was comfortable and made spotless every day. The courtyard gardens looked beautiful even in early Spring. The restaurant that served breakfast looked and smelled appetising and the breakfast staff (especially Paola) were extremely attentive with fresh coffee/tea whenever...

I stayed for 5 nights at the Rivoli Boutique Hotel from 8th January to 13th January. To get to hotel from train station was very easy and took about 5 minutes. The hotel was in a very convenient location within walking distance to everything. The hotel itself was excellent. I chose to upgrade my room to a room with a...

This a very sweet little hotel, very clean and comfortable with a lovely guest lounge which reminds you of your grandma's sitting room! With monogrammed towels and so other dated features the hotel is in need of a bit of an upgrade, but the charming location and the dedication of the staff is evident. Only minus was a very cramped...

Dear Guest, I'm really glad you appreciated your experience at the Rivoli Boutique Hotel. We are at guest disposal from over 50 years and try to offer the best experience we can. Concerning the bathroom size... yes you are right some rooms have very small bathrooms, as the hotel is mostly realized in a XIVth century building, our rooms (87)...

Cozy hotel close to the train terminal making it convenient for travel in country. Easy walking distance to popular sites and restaurants in Florence. High quality breakfast was included in our booking. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are being updated and we had a newly furnished room which was well appointed. Would not hesitate to book again.

We stayed in one of the new rooms which was wonderfully bright and airy with very modern grey and white decor. Fantastic bathroom/shower and a view over the pretty courtyard garden. Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located in the old town of Florence, the Hotel Rivoli offers class hospitality with charm, as well as spacious and elegantly decorated hotel rooms and suites. The Hotel Rivoli is a 4-star superior hotel that is set inside a restored 14th-century Franciscan convent, where guests can breath the charming and unique atmosphere of this ancient historic building in the city of Florence. The restoration has highlighted the architectural details dating back to 1500 such as arches and vaults, coffered ceilings and stone columns. Guests are welcomed in an enchanting setting full of cozy atmosphere, embellished by refined common areas, which are conceived as an oasis of tranquility away from the hectic pace of the city. The Internal Patio, which was obtained from a complete renovation of the Franciscan cloister, is now dedicated to relaxation and wellbeing, featuring an unforgettable 20 sqm-whirlpool that is also open during the winter with a constant water temperature of 36° C. The location could not be better, a few steps from the Santa Maria Novella railway station, the Duomo Cathedral, Ponte Vecchio Bridge, opposite the ancient and famous Officina Profumo di Santa Maria Novella, and the most important museums. In addition to the interior elegant and spacious patio, the Hotel Rivoli guests can enjoy the quiteness of the small "garden of medlar", an exceptional lounge where to spend moments of real relax; in summer time the garden is available for breakfast and dinners prepared and served by Benedicta Restaurant , 3 Michelin forks. ... more   less
