We stayed here with our family of four. They had no quad rooms and made us get two doubles even though we never stepped foot in the second room (unconnected). Rooms were tired and in need of updating with stained floors, and unclean floors and air vents--gross! Pool and hotel foyer were great and service was fine. Outdoor seating by...

Visited Florence with family and had a lovely stay at this hotel. The room was nice, but not what I would expected for the price - however I do understand Florence is generally expensive. The hotel also didn't have much character. Service was good and friendly. We chose this hotel because it had a garden and it's nice to have...

The Hotel common areas are nicely appointed and updated however not all the rooms are. Some have not been updated so make sure you get a picture and understanding of your view. After some discussion they put us in the room we prefered. Very nice overlooking the pool area. The rooms are larger than most. There are distinctly different rooms...

Beautiful building and grounds (showing some signs of age though), extremely pleasant front staff, (Jacopo, and all the bellhops), included breakfast was ordinary (adding some exotic fruit doesn't make it special!), and they charge for Wi-Fi by the hour! Ruined it, really! At those prices, cheaping out on the Wi-Fi is classless.

This hotel is relatively close to the centre, about a 25 minute walk. They do, however, have a house van that we regularly used instead of a cab and the service was excellent. The pool is terrific, set in a garden in the back. They are very tolerant of kids having fun. The garden is very nice. Breakfast is deliciious...

Beautiful hotel, some rooms modern, some antique, crazy rules about wifi. It's not free, you can't buy days in advance, you can only buy one hour or 3 hours and then increase it up to 24 hours. This is nuts. You get a use rid and password. Beautiful amenities, tastefully decorated. Helpful staff.

A wonderful hotel with lovely rooms, beautiful bathrooms, and above all a management that cares about its guests. Everything about the hotel is luxurious with the discriminating guest kept in mind. Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
