This was our second stay here and we were impressed as last time with the quality of the hotel and its staff. The location is great for walking to all major tourist attractions and the hotel offer the added advantage of a free drop off service at certain times of the day. The room was very nice and spacious and...

This hotel was perfect. It is a beautiful hotel with no more than a ten min walk from the train station with plenty of restaurants and small grocery stores nearby to pick up items needed. They also have a courtesy car if you are tired of walking and need a ride somewhere nearby. The best part of this hotel was the...

We stayed 5 nights at this beautiful hotel. We were upgraded, room was big with two bathrooms. Staff was very helpful, concierge Paolo managed to get us tickets to the football match at a very short notice. They also arranged us to the next day chianti wine tour even though we asked it late sunday night. Location is great. Less...

This was the third time I've stayed at the Villa Medici and each time I've liked it more. The staff is amazing, always helpful and smiling. Rooms are a bit small if you are used to the upgrades that come with Leading Hotels or Amex Platinum but very comfortable and immaculate. The bathroom is large and the shower terrific. Breakfast...

We arrived after having a horrible experience in Uptown Palace Hotel in Milan, we checked in, What a difference! Greeted with a smile, was offered the complimentary upgrade, because we were using AMEX Plat . Restaurant service was great, our waiter seemed excited about all the dishes and almost made us want to try them all, very charming. The food...

The hotel itself is physically beautiful, with a nice blend of modern and old world touches. It's location is within about an eight or nine minute walk from the train station, and is in a nice area with plenty of eateries. The staff, however, are outstanding, especially the concierge. They go above and beyond to make your stay special.

The good - beautiful old hotel with lovely gardens and luxurious feel. Close to the SMN train station easy to find and easy for getting in and out of town but not in the central area of town. Quiet location and peaceful. Be aware that as with some European hotels air conditioning is not available year round. So be sure...

The location is outside of the craziness in central Florence in Prato. Nice neighborhood with some ethnic food restaurants. Relaxing, quiet and elegant destination. My room had a great view of the Duomo and Giotto's tower. It also looked out on the pool with its small fountain.

This hotel benefits and ride on the Medici name. The interior is old in fixtures and fittings (you can tell from the conditions of its carpets) and style is very dated. There is classical but modern (like Villa Cora) and there is just dated style neglect of attention. needs a massive uplift. Smelt it's age, sometimes dank. But the one...

Nice smal luxury hotel with a good location and service. One of the best breakfasts ever. Room was not too large but the roof terrace was spacious with great views. Stylish and elegant accomodation in one of the most beautiful cities of the world.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
